How to focus on work when grieving for the death of a family pet?

I've been contacted by my parents this morning and told our family dog of 16 years has passed away in the night. I'm really upset about it and sad that I've not been able to see him before he passed (I live in a different city).
I've got to go into work now but I'm so sad.

Does anyone have advice on how I can pull myself together when at work?

thanks

Oh I am so sorry to hear you have had such sad news.I think you will find your work colleagues are very sympathetic as many people are devastated when they lose a pet.Get yourself ready and try and eat or at least get some tea or coffee down you. It is very normal to be sad so be kind to yourself perhaps get yourself a treat for lunch and call a friend tonight.
