Hello! I have benefited from having a 16-25 Railcard for the first 3 years of my course. I'm about to start a paid placement year, before returning for my final uni year.

Do you think I will be eligible for a Railcard for this coming year?

This is a quote from the 16-25railcard.co.uk site: "People who are older than 25 years of age can only buy and use a Railcard if they are in full time study. We therefore require mature students to demonstrate that they are still in full time education each time they buy or renew a Railcard."

I am officially a full time student and therefore qualify for Council Tax exemption, for example.

It's quite important as there will be a need for daily rail travel!

Hey riiiky

Thinking on my feet and applying logic I want to say :yep:. The placement year is part of your degree...right?? So do you continue to be a student?

The application form for 16-25 renewal - see here advises - You will need to get it endorsed by your university/college. The website also adds that you must also include a copy of your student photo identity card or NUS photo ID. If you can get these in place and visit the train station in person so you should be able to renew. :train2:

Hope this helps

Hey Clare,

Awesome, that does help! That FAQ answer does seem to confirm it, so thank you so much.
