I've heard that we aren't going to be assessed on practical work, and I've got homework to complete a research project for OCR biology as part of my practical endorsement. Is it still necessary to do so?

Yes! You're still going to get examined in the practical work, even though the practical itself isn't being assessed, so it's essential you go through it and understand it.
