Yes, I have.
Most areas are fine.
But be on the lookout for thieves, scam artists operating in tourist hotspots and sex pests that won't keep their hands or feet to themselves.
Best to avoid places like Sicily and very traditionalist northern league strongholds (too many locals & business owners that get very unpleasant about what female tourists are wearing).

No but I'm planning on doing it someday in the future. Wanna have an Eat Pray Love moment where I travel alone, explore the cities and eat pizza, spaghetti and drink wine. ahh it'll be bliss.
