How to change Uni course- clearing?

I have an offer of ABB to study. I want to study a different course at the same university, with BBC requirements.

Should I use clearing? Do I need to self release? if I get ABB, is it better to just accept it and then ask to change courses in the first week of Uni?

Similar to me here. I want to change my course, but I don't want to let go of my offer if I get through just in case clearing doesn't work out for me

You don’t need to use clearing to swap courses at the same university. You also shouldn’t wait until the first week.

Email your university TOMORROW first thing (or tonight) and explain which course you’d like to change to. The university is making decisions right now about applicants who have missed their offer conditions and knowing that there’s one more place in the ABB course and one less in the BBC course will help them decide who else to admit

If you want to change course at the same university then you do NOT use clearing. Your firm university can just change your course if they agree.

Then if you exceed your firm offer conditions you can use adjustment to look elsewhere while holding onto your firm.
If you don’t exceed your firm offer conditions (or your firm was unconditional) then you need to give up your firm to use clearing. You would be wasting your time ringing universities about clearing spaces while you’re not in clearing
