How many GCSEs do I have

I am not sure how to answer when people ask me, I know people who have up to 12 which sounds like a lot but I don’t know.I passed everything I took, which is as follows:

English Lit&Lang, Maths, Combined Science, BTEC Performing Arts, Spanish and History.

Thank you in advance to anyone who answers!

Well the BTEC isn't a GCSE.

If all the others were GCSEs, then it sounds like you've got 7:

English Literature
English Language
Maths
Spanish
History
and two GCSEs from your Combined Science

Just to add, 12 isn't the norm. That's pretty high.

I think 12 GCSEs would those going Further Maths etc

When I did my GCSEs I got 9, just because of Triple Science counting as 3 GCSEs

BTEC is just equivalent to GCSEs.

It depends on the level of BTEC doesn't it?

Uni Guide says:

Btec Level 1 and 2 = equivalent to GCSEs

I think Level 1 equates to 1-4 and Level 2 equates to 5+, but not too sure

Level 1 and 2 BTEC Tech Awards are equivalent to GCSE grades A to E, according to exam board Pearson.
Level 2 BTEC Firsts are roughly the same as GCSE Grades A* to C.

Dependent on what exam board their school used

I think they are asking because it is phrased in a way which suggests all the three subjects are BTEC:

English Lit&Lang, Maths, Combined Science, BTEC Performing Arts, Spanish and History.

They probably understand that there are different boards and what not etc

Saw this ridiculously late, sorry.

I got teacher assessed grades, it would’ve been 2020 but, as you know…

Right

So let's discount BTEC Performing Arts which isn't a GCSE but is an alternative that's equivalent to one.

It's either 6 or 7 GCSEs

Maths (1)
Science (2)
Spanish (1)
History (1)
English (1-2)

I'm unsure whether you have a combined English qualification with lit and lang in 1 GCSE or whether you did GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature.
