Film Studies EPQ Ideas

I’m doing an EPQ currently and know that I want to do it on film but am a bit stuck on what exactly do it on and was wondering if anyone had any advice or opinions on what I should do. I’ve had some ideas but not really sure where to look for research or how to expand the ideas.
The ideas that I have include whether humans have a role in the post-production process of films as there is a rise of robots and technology. Another ideas is whether filmmakers are getting lazy as the same tropes and clichés are used over and over again or whether creativity is just too risky as these tropes are what appeal to audiences and therefore bring in money. Other ideas include whether the Academy Awards still relevant in today’s society or whether the Oscars are racist and also exploring whether minorities including disabilities are accurately represented in Western films.
Any help or advice is appreciated as to what direction I should head in.

Hi!
Those sound like great starting points for your EPQ!
I am currently a film production student and we talk a lot about the "tropes" of film. I think that that one could be really interesting to do.
For example, looking at the style of classic Hollywood films and comparing them to newer films that follow the same ideas and constructs.
Or looking into how certain issues (sexuality, gender, race) were presented in films of the past and how they are presented now.
In terms of research, I would look for scholars that talk about the topic you have in mind. For example, if you were talking about classical Hollywood films, research into theorists who have looked into a similar thing. If you decide to talk about sexism in films, research into theorists who have discussed a similar thing.
Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to help.

Thank you, those are some really helpful points. I am leaning more towards the tropes in film because I think I have the potential to find a lot to talk about such as Jung’s archetypes and a comparison of classical and new hollywood such as how we’re potentially reverting back to the classical hollywood studio system where there was less creative freedom. If you have any more ideas about tropes etc that I could look into then that would be great. I’ll definitely do some research into some scholars and theorists so if you have any good websites that might help. Thanks
