Where I was driving there was a variable mobile camera (police car) I was driving 40mph on a 30mph until I saw the camera (I was slightly roughly 400m away) slowed down to 30mph and continued. Will I get a ticket or am I being paranoid?

By the time you've seen it it's already too late. Laser cameras can catch you from miles away providing they have line of sight.

Probably getting a ticket here.

It wasn’t a laser gun, it was a camera attached at the back of the police van?

They use laser for speed detection as part of the camera.

Camera vans and lasers are calibrated to be accurate at upto 999metres, so there’s a good chance you’ve been caught.
Police have 14 days to send an NIP to the vehicle owner’s registered address … if the vehicle is leased or registered at an old address, they have upto 6 months to trace you and commence court proceedings.
