How does DNA profiling support theory of evolution?
I am currently in 1st year and we have not yet covered topic 6 but as part of my summer hw I have to answer this question and I really dont understand it.
I got as far as knowing what it means: Analysis of DNA from samples of body tissues or fluids in order to identify individuals
Someone please help meeee

Anyways basically they obtain DNA and then analyse base sequences. The more similar base sequences, the more closely related 2 organisms are. The theory of evolution is supported by this because if they looked at animals extinct more recently, they contained more similar DNA base sequence patterns to animals that are alive today in comparison to an animal that was extinct long before that.
