How much time should I study?

I am doing a Special Educational Needs and Education course and I've been trying to prepare a schedule for when we start next month.

How many hours should I study for my first year? I've heard a range between 30-40 hours.
Do these hours Include the lectures?

I have about 9 hours of lectures every week
Hello! It’s good that you’re already setting yourself up a schedule! I try to aim for 20 hours a week, so around 3 hours a day, this is not including seminars and lectures! I also plan what I’ll be doing in those study sessions, one day doing the reading and notes, another answering essay questions, another creating flash cards. It’s important not to wear yourself out or even burn yourself out! Take regular breaks and hydrate, or even set aside one day off! It’s okay if you wake up one day and feel like doing no work- trust me we’ve all been there.
Best of luck for the future!
