How do you girls get your "knee high" tights to stay up?

I've recently been wearing 'knee high' tights with my flats as socks look silly, I don't like wearing 'normal' tights, and my feet are always cold! My only problem is they will not stay up. I'm always having to pull them and people look at me strange because they're skin coloured :p: Any ideas? Someone recommended double sided tape but err wouldn't that hurt to take off when you've finished wearing the tights? :s-smilie:

I don't wear knee-highs, so wouldn't have a clue :s-smilie: Erm... sew some elastic around the top of them? Could end up hurting your legs after a while, though. Either that, or get some surgical tape from your chemist (which is lower in stickiness, but should still hold).

They're really handy, I love them  Oo I didn't think about surgical tape. I'll try that, thanks :yep:

I don't think I'd want to put glue on my legs! :frown:!

Im sure:smile:

Yeah try some elastic around the tops of them (fold the ends over a bit of elastic) - I know that's how some of my friends keep up their sports socks...

Maybe buy some "tit-tape"? Works on dressed and things so dont see why it should work on knee-highs.

Sounds stupid, but I used to moisturise my legs in the morning and put my socks on when it was almost dry and that helped them stay up. Strange I know, but it could work :s-smilie:!

they are meant to have elastic at the top and pull them as high as you can

No such thing as 'knee-high tights' - I assume you mean pop socks, woman! :p:

You just need to buy ones with decent elastic in. I buy the cheapo ones from Tesco, which do the job fine. The elastic is almost too effective - you cut your circulation off if you wear them too long!

Make sure your legs are smooth before you put them on...kind of like regular tights if you wear them when you haven't just shaved your legs they won't stay up.

'Knee highs' aren't really the same as pop socks though. They're knee high stockings, not tights, really.
Sorry, just wanted to add that :p:

I'm really not sure, but would putting a little bit of hairspray around the top of them work and help them to stick? :p: Maybe it only works when you put it on a leotard or swimsuit or something to stop it from going wedgie-fied, but i've never tried it, so sorry this wasn't very helpful, hehe. I guess tape would probably be the best option though as others have said!

Tit tape!

You mean hold-ups right?
Tan tights hold-ups have a sort of plastic 'sticky' strip on the inside at the top, and you just pull them up pretty high and they stay there alllll day.

I only wear knee highs with leggings cos they can keep them up. Otherwise I have the same problem, they always roll down! Sorry i can't be more helpful.

Reply 17

are we talking about stockings????? why not try hold ups instead, they have a plasticy bit at the top specialy designed to kind of "stick" to your leg.

Just wear normal stockings, add a suspender belt. Simple
I've never used Knee High tights, though. It's mostly stockings and hold ups for me  Are they a little sticky on the top? Or are you meant to use a suspender belt with them? :/

I find that if you wear a pair of leggings/tights that go a couple of inches below the knee, it works great to keep knee highs up! Just pull them so that they are overlapping your leggings/tights.
