I've written some advice to people who will be applying to top schools at 16+ such as Westminster School and St Paul's school here: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7165673

I accepted my offer to St Paul's school. Anyone else who accepted their offer?

Hi sorry I do not know about those stats although you could try find it on the website, my current school gives the stats.

May I know what sort of questions were in the Maths and Computer Science papers please? I saw on the website that the computer science test would test more of reasoning rather than memorisation. Also what sort of questions were in the critical thinking and problem solving papers?

HI ,May I know what sort of questions were in the Computer Science papers please?

Hi Ryan I'm Faraz , I've applied to St Paul's school London as well. I'm not sure what's going to be in the examination. I have mathematics physics and computing in my examination and could really use an extra head ( or in this case mind ) to help me study for the examination (entrance exam)

We could give it a go and see if it will help us study better.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

For future Maths applicants,
The paper was similar to a standard GCSE paper (in my opinion) and was not excessively challenging so I would just practice the harder GCSE topics and do past GCSE papers as good preparation.
The real issue I found was the numerical reasoning paper which I found to be impossible and infinitely harder than the actual maths paper despite the fact I’m predicted a 9 in maths (although apparently it’s similar to the JMC). With hindsight, the reason I felt I didn’t get in was that numerical reasoning so if I could go back in time I would have practiced JMC papers. Also a word of advice, go on the open days because the head of Maths gave me a past paper which did help me because some of the questions from that past paper were almost identical to the real maths paper.
Good luck to all future applicants

For future applicants of St Paul's School Computer Science:

They ask you to put write your exam board on the paper and it said on the paper that you are not expected to complete all questions
In other words, just learn everything from your own exam board and you will be very fine!

I answered like 3 questions from the entire paper and I still got in so seriously there's nothing to worry about

Just make sure to be strong in your general GCSE programming as well!

Can you please add my discord:
Powxr#5471
so that I can talk to you because I got into Westminster as well.

So I did my exams too, Maths bio chem and history. I found maths the most difficult and couldn’t answer a few but that’s because I hadn’t learnt some of the stuff; as I am not doing further maths will there be some leniency? I did alright in Chem, it wasn’t a disaster but defo not my best and history and biology went amazing! Do you think I stand a good chance? Will my maths let me down, ultimately? I hope not..

Hello. Thank you for all the information you’ve shared so far. I’m sitting the St Paul’s 16+ history entrance exam. Can you elaborate on what to expect? Especially with there being so many alternative subtopics within each each exam board.

Hey All, just returned home after a lengthy exam. Somehow I struggled to complete Maths and Physics papers. In Maths, I couldn't even look at the last two questions and in Physics somehow completed the paper but some questions I couldn't attempt fully. Numerical reasoning left 2 or 3. TBH, not feeling satisfied - still my fingers crossed. How about others?

I'm pretty sure I won't pass. I expect ~60% for maths, 90% physics, and 95% compsci. Numerical reasoning was pretty hard after the maths and physics test so I would be surprised to get 50% on it. It was worth trying tbh, but its def not the end of the world.

I'm expecting Maths ~ 75%, Physics - 80%, CompSci - 80% and Numerical - 85%. NOt sure if that would be sufficient to get an interview call.

hi! I also did the exam for spgs, has anyone been notified about interviews? If yes, do you need to pick an extra subject to be tested on?

Hi yes I got an interview and need to pick an extra subject do you know if this is standard procedure or it means I did worse than the others ? Btw congrats on getting an interview

ty u too! Do you do further maths bc I think that might have something to do with it. On my email, it says that it's do that they get a better understanding of my academic ability and I'll also be interviewed in that subject. Are you thinking of picking an 'easy' subject or one that you would consider for A-level?

I didn’t do further maths but I know I did quite a few silly mistakes on the maths paper so that might be it. I think I’m going to do a subject I wouldn’t mind doing for A-levels so probs something I do for GCSE like RS or Chem

Great and congrats! I've not heard anything back from SPBS them so does that mean I couldn't perform well in the exam to be called for an interview? I'm expecting Maths ~ 75%, Physics - 80%, CompSci - 80% and Numerical - 85% and not sure if you were expecting better than this

Hi we’re talking about St Paul’s girls so don’t compare anything we’re talking about as the schools are completely separate, but I’m sure if you get what your expecting that would be enough for an interview
