Hi,

Explain why the majority of waste eliminated as faeces is not considered to be excretion?

Thanks

Infact, none of the waste emitted as faeces is excreted as it has not passed a membrane. What you are referring to is egestion - the discharge of undigested food from an organisms body. Metabolic waste is excreted as it has been in a cell, changed and needs to pass through the cells membrane to get out. Secrete is different, secretion is excretion with a purpous and destination. Eg - hormones secreated by pituitary gland.
