Along with this, are assignments, portfolios, debrief/ self progression report, an infinite number of competency assessment sign offs (during placement) where a student nurse will be assessed on clinical competency skills such as administering meds, giving intramuscular injections, talking bloods, inserting cannulas, fitting catheters etc.
The other 2300 hours must be spent in practice clinical suites at the university (simulation ward), attending lectures for each module (diabetes, palliative care, infectious diseases, sexual health, resuscitation, emergency and trauma care etc). Not to mention the endless exams on mathematics and numeracy in drug calculation, biology and chemistry.
So yes, my answer would be nursing is difficult! It’s a heavy workload and there’s a lot of information to take in and retain, as a healthy human body is widely complex as it is! Never mind the countless illnesses, disease, injuries and traumas that can occur!
