Aaa I have induction day this week, wish me luck! I'll let you know if I actually talk to people or if I end up sitting by myself majority of the time haha  I'll try join clubs and societies to get to know people. I'm studying English language, politics and philosophy also doing an EPQ.

thats such an interesting combination!! i love it
Hey guys! my name is Jane
What subjects are you taking this year? (be sure to include exam board)
Politics (Edexcel) Geography (Edexcel) Economics (AQA) French (AQA)

What made you interested in studying these subjects?
I loved sciences but I didn't like them enough to want to study them at A level, I chose Politics because I'm interested in current affaires, Geography mainly because I love human geography, Economics because I just wanted to try it out and it has strong links with pol and geo, and lastly French because I love languages

What do you want to do as a career In the future? What are your dreams, your aspirations, your goals?
Honestly it keeps changing. In year 9 I wanted to go into medicine but then I completely ditched the idea lol! now I think I want to go down the political route and do some voluntary work on the side once I'm 18.

How are you feeling about starting Year 12?
Already started and its different to year 11, I'm enjoying it so far but once the workload hits I know ill dread it lol. I'm just trying to stay positive and on top of things for now

Any plans after Sixth Form? Have your eyes set on a particular company or university?
I want to go to university yes, I'm yet to explore and see which uni's best suit me but I want to do a course that is either related to politics, geo or languages
and now, anything about you! (fun facts, hobbies, or anything else you want to share!)

Ummm I do athletics, I love twitter, I play piano but because of trauma from exams I haven't touched my piano in a while and I love afrobeats and learning new things.☺️

A bit of an update:
It feels like everyone already knows each other, I have my friends but their timetables are different to mine so It’s pretty boring, I’m not the most sociable but I’ll just see how things go. Maybe I’m jumping the gun since it literally is the first week.
My classes are okay, I’ve yet to see how my other class is. The people who I sit next to seem okay as well. I like the subjects I’ve picked so far and I’ve managed to turn up on time and complete homework haha
I still wanna join a club/society but I think I’ll wait till a couple of weeks I don’t really have the energy now x)
Travelling to and from college is such a hassle

Yes I have!

Omg, I was so confused at the start but now I understand it!
Anyone else found sixth form so different from Year 11? Truthfully I'm loving it, I'm no longer taking subjects I don't enjoy and the revision and homework is more enjoyable. I can't wait to begin the EPQ in a few weeks and I love the fact we have frees! Hope everyone else is settling in well and enjoying their experience and if not that it gets better soon!

there was sOOOOO much homework landed on us in the first week but I like being able to organise myself and get all my work done in frees. wha do you plan to do your EPQ about?

I don't have frees! or homework or revision! Not sure if its good or not yet! I have 6 hours of maths a week and 14 hours of my L3 Digital Media BTEC! I'm taking equivalent of 5 A-Levels!!

The homework load has definitely increased substantially! I'm doing roughly 3-4 hours a night compared to the 1-2 at GCSE and I haven't had to make time to revise for exams yet! We'll see how it goes, how are you finding the homework so far?

I think I'll do my EPQ on law; either constitutional law, human rights law, or data and AI law. I want to study it at university and think it'll help my application. Aside from that, I find the topics quite interesting which is useful when you need to write 4k words on it lol! Do you plan on doing one?

Icl Mathematics on the AQA spec for A-level is tough. I'm finding Physics way easier, which is weird as i thought it would be the other way around:eek:.

Mark 1
:crown::party::blow:

2004-2005 babies wooo! :king1: We are assembled here once again for the Year 12 thread! After the crazy events of the past two years, we certainly have had a... unique experience! We are finally starting A-levels, join the others who are too! You can us this thread to discuss with other Year 12s what you are doing. Props to Starlight15 for the Year 9 Thread, ClubNeon for the Year 10 Thread, and saffron <3 for the Year 11 Thread. Please note that we have now moved over from the GCSE section to the A-level section!

Feel free to share any useful study threads, revision material or just post how you are feeling! This is the thread to post anything to do with your Year 12 life, so feel free to moan, panic, or scream into your computer to your heart's desire.

:rave:Let's get these A*s!:rave:

--- Notices ---
If you have anything to share, make a post and mention me by adding @risette so I can add it here for you.

Subjects:
Maths (OCR)
Further Maths (MEI)
Economics (Edecel)
History (AQA)

Why am I studying them:
I'm studying maths and further maths for university. I don't really like maths besides algebra. Economics and history because they interest me and I want some essay subjects to break up exams.

Career in the furture:
probably somewhere in finance preferably IB or consulting

How are you feeling about Yr 12:
My main problem is a didn't work at all for my GCSE's which not only means my GCSE's are bad but also I don't have any experience when it comes to revising or staying organised but I plan on working hard so it should work out

After Sixth Form:
I want to go to uni for Economics or Finance. My current 5 (these are long shots given bad GCSE's) are LSE/Cambridge, UCL, Warwick, Bath, Notts

Yes, I am thank you! No, I most likely will not be set any homework in either course! Even though my BTEC is all coursework! It is a private specialist autism school, which most probably explains why there is no homework! I'm at school 8 hours a day at the moment!

you defo would be. can't believe you're taking a-levels tbh - biggest shock of the century!!

I love your obsession with replying to anything that I say about grades. It does nothing other than show how insecure you are. If it isn’t insecurity, why even bother replying? To everybody else on this thread, I apologise for this guy’s unwanted toxicity.
Hi, I’m doing A-Level Biology (AQA) Geography (AQA) and Btec Applied science L3ED.
I found them very interesting at GCSE so I decided to take them at A-Level.
I’m only 2 weeks in but I was really worried about it before we started but now I feel ok about it and I’m enjoying it a lot.
I really hope to get at least an A in one of my A-Levels, at least a B in the other and a distinction in Applied Science.
I’m unsure exactly what career/degree I want to do but something involving science but I know I definitely want to go to university after Sixth Form

How can I be insecure when i got straight A*s? I'm giving you the same energy (and it's funny how you're trying to act smarter than me) with your obsession with my posts and Islam, it's not nice is it? Mind your business next time

Seriosuly!? Their comment to me had nothing to do with you! I think you're the one with the obsession!
A*'s mean nothing! Also, you can be insecure about failing! Which is pretty clear considering you're constantly going on about your 'amazing' grade.

Their constant harassment on other threads has nothing to do with you either? Their belittlement, disrespect, and clear Islamaphobia has nothing to do with you as well but only accentuates THEIR obsession? I'm not insecure and would never usually make a post like this, but when the user is constantly replying to all of my posts on different threads and frankly harassing me with his Islamaphobia, I have no means to be nice to him. I hope he learned his lesson about how annoying and rude it is to comment frankly untrue things under other people's posts.

BTW - Good grades do matter, but you can still do well without them.

Let me reiterate, that thread is the “religion” section in a public online forum - I have all rights to debate there. Keyword: debate - not harassing, disrespecting or whatever other words you’ve said to put me in a bad light. This thread, however, isn't about debate, but mainly a place for year 12’s to share their experiences, have fun, socialise etc.

“Frankly untrue things” - how objective of you! If you believe that I’m saying untrue things then say that in the “religion” section, not here.

I agree.
