Just wondered what kinda part time work everyone does.

I work at WHSmith. Its rubbish. The people are cool but seeing as I spend all day alone on front till there isnt much scope for socialising on the job. Then again, it does have its moments. I got to send back 35 Daily Mails today. Ahhhhhh. Oh and once I served Alison from one of the Big Brother series. She bought some batteries.

So tell us about your job, or is TSR populated by good for nothing layabouts?

I'd be one of those good for nothing layabouts with no job. Unless you count occasional baby-sitting

I do contract work for a web development company. I produce accessable websites for high profile clients. I also deliver leaflets, my web development job pays more than twice as much though.

    A bookshop.

Not too much socialising on the job - but then again I wouldn't want to with most of them. The manager insists on playing rubbish music (with sheep in it). We mainly sell idiotic books. One of the biggest-selling sections is MBS (Mind Body and Spirit). I actually feel dirty sellings books about angels and anything by Deepak Chopra makes me grit my teeth slightly. What irritates me more though are "The Pocket Book of Patriotism" and "England Our England: A Nation in Jeopardy." I actually hate having to sell them, that's what rubbish they are.

It has its perks. 30% discount on any book and also if a book's damaged I can pick it up for free. The range in the shop isn't great but I can order pretty much any book.

Piers Morgan (former editor of The Mirror) came in the other day to see if we stocked his book. I am pleased to say we don't.

    For what?

Web development £8 an hour standard, or £12 an hour over time, plus I some times get bonuses or or leave an hour with full pay etc.

Leaflets I get paid anything from £2-£5 an hour depending on the area. I like doing leaflets because I see it as just somthing to do for a couple of hours while getting a sun tan. I get given expenses when doing leaflets as well.
