I did volunteer work over the summer at a huisotry museum, past paid jobs include baby-sitting, paper round (that was soo bersking the law the little I waspaid!) working on school's canteen and being a member of an orchestra pit for 'carosel'

Currently I work as a cleaner after school 3:20 to 5:20 £6 an hour ten hours a week which is good. I have a block of classrooms so hoover first then after the teachers are gone I put on classicla music really loudly and wipe tables with the doors oopen so I can hear whereever I am (I am trying to expand my classical knowledge - working through the romantic era.) Brilliant job - I love it!

SGP property services helpdesk monitor, kind of like in a call centre, some days it's great some days boring, and brain draining. £5 an hour is quite cool i suppose 14 hours a week. I had to get my friend a job there i used to get so bored, in saying that some people there are mega cool , and the company as a whole is nice.
I have to ring up big firms like woolworths, bhs and ask them if their problems have been sorted out (maintenance wise)..

I volunteer on farms n'stuff.

I work part time as a Starbucks Barista. I am the store coffee master, and generally do all the jazz to do with whole-bean sales, promotion and stuff like that. In addition to making drinks, serving customers and cleaning up and stuff. I like it. It's good fun and good money. And we get a few celebrities in from time to time...we're kindof tucked away though.

I also work for the council [haha] as a QTS test skills administrator. Basically, if you want to be a teacher these days, you have to take three computerised exams. I administer, register and invigilate these exams. [so basically I sit and play on the internet for a few hours a week and get paid for the privilage]

wahoo.
You're a senior member of staff at Starbucks, and administer skills tests for teachers, and you're 18? I've been looking for work in the wrong places it seems...

I'm not that senior at sbux. I turned down supervisor positions. I wanted to be able to do what I wanted on shift, and not be consigned to basically accounting and delegation. I'm relatively senior..it's easy to go up the ladder.

Yeah, the skills testing is a good niche, I must admit.
My jobs have included: paperrounds (ad nauseum), babysitting, working in cafe in sports centre, working in cafe in university. Starbucks sounds better - is the pay good?

As far as I'm concerned, the pay is fantastic.

It depends on where your store is. Basically, I think 4.80 is the base rate. then according to which "zone" your store is in..you cang et 10, 20 or 30p added on.

So for the sake of argument, you'd start at maybe 5.10 an hour. [and we get payrises quite often] after three months, you cans start your core two training, which gives you a 40p pay rise.

Hang on, let me find my booklet.

Okay. then, if you go to supervisor training, it's another pay rise, which will give you about 5.90 an hour, and then when you qualify, about 6.70 an hour.

So it's really not all that bad. Plus you get 50% food discount on shift, and free drinks.[and half an hour before and after.] 30% off starbucks anywhere else, and when you're not on shift.

Then there's quite a good "leave" policy. Plus discounts at theme parks, retail outlets, insurance companies, pensions, medical/dental, health club discount, breakdown cover discount, ticket offers, travel insurance...etcetc
Well, when I move out of Uni campus accomodation, I'll avidly search for vacancies at the local Starbuckes.

I'm on £5.90 straight after recruitment, without any training - but I'd much prefer the coffee-shop environment - no burger steamers or vats of baked beans to clean...

I work at Toys R Us. Really do hate it.
We had inventory today so I had to work a 12 hour shift (11am-11pm).
I want a new job, preferably somewhere smaller so i might actually have a chance at finding what the stupid customers want. Maybe H&M, hell knows I need the staff discount the amount I spend in there!

Just wondered what kinda part time work everyone does.

I work at WHSmith. Its rubbish. The people are cool but seeing as I spend all day alone on front till there isnt much scope for socialising on the job. Then again, it does have its moments. I got to send back 35 Daily Mails today. Ahhhhhh. Oh and once I served Alison from one of the Big Brother series. She bought some batteries.

So tell us about your job, or is TSR populated by good for nothing layabouts?

Have I posted in this thread? Oh well you get to hear about me twice if I did

Well I used to work in a newsagents/convinience store/off-licence (all next to each other) which was pretty terrible, really. Minimum wage, no perks whatsoever (not even a store discount), and... well I won't go into it

But now I work as a legal assistant in a small Solicitors Firm in the city. The pay is the same, but I do more hours and it's cash-in-hand at the end of each week Plus massive perks - like the experience! And travel/food/etc expenses for anything work related (such as my jaunt up to London) Only problem is I have no idea how long I'm there for. This week for sure, next week who knows!
