Ooh yeah, I was wondering what the GPA meant, because I wasn't quite sure. Does anyone know how those numbers translate into grades, or 1/2:1/2:2/3s etc.

In relation to the 16-point scale, 16 = A (1:1), 14 = B (2:1), 12 = C (2:2), 10 = D (3rd) etc. etc.

does your department have a handbook on their departmental page? for example, this is the handbook for the engineering department:
it would tell you what the GPA is, what the difference is between GPA and aggregation score.
in our department the aggregation score determines the final degree band i.e. 1st class or 2:1 or 2:2
the GPA system goes up to 16 atm but the aggregation score is different and goes up to 22. in my course, for a 2:1 you need 15 to 17 for the aggregation score, and anything above is a first class honours.
This is how the scores are calculated in our department:
The GPA is computed as the credit weighted average of all grade points achieved in the examinations being considered. For example if a student was taking seven courses worth 10, 10, 20, 20, 20, 20 and 40 credits, and scored A, C, D, B, B, E, C respectively, the GPA would be obtained as follows:
The overall aggregation score is obtained in a similar manner, that is the credit weighted average aggregation score is obtained. For example, if the above grades had secondary bands of 2, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 2 respectively, the overall aggregation score would be:

And that's pretty good then! I know it's first year and it doesn't technically count towards the final degree classification but it's nice to know I'm basically on track. Just got a bit confused when I initially saw the GPA and thought it was out of 22!
Gotta commend 23 units, that's bloody impressive for a woman.
(please don't sack me)
It was 1 all when I left (half an hour before the end as craving for subway was getting too intense to stay)...but Glasgow won the lap dancing contest...not sure if should be proud or embarrassed?!
However it was most fun being Glasgow because you could look down on everyone else
I'm not just a woman, I'm a short woman, I just hold my alcohol well!

Most I ever drunk was when I was in the halls I drank an entire 70cl bottle of Southern Comfort and passed out, I actually lost the night from the point of half a bottle then had 3 of the big alcopop bottles then 2 or 3 pints in college bar then was so drunk at closing I staggered around corner and slept in bushes for about a hour then back to halls.

I didn't drunk text anyone, can remember the whole night, walked in a straightish line, however this morning felt like was gonna boke!
Hello Glasgow people! I feel I should get in on this thread
You at/coming to Glasgow? Just asking, 'cos the polite way to inform us all seems to be starting a thread asking about the likelihood of being stabbed due to race/religion/being English/being in Glasgow.
