Great, let us forget the pathetic behaviour of these thugs who put staff in danger by trying to get into No 11 after the cops came around, or their "let us march to Muscatelli" rally where they got lost in the cloisters, then smashed a pane in a door(of course they will put it as the fault of security, fact is they were banging on that door violently), or their public endorsement of kettling Porter, or the sheer embarrassment and loss of repute they have brought to the university by acting like immature children after failing to propose a sensible business plan for the Hetherington.

That's fair enough - I object to all those things, as I don't feel they will actually achieve any meaningful end and I believe in non-violence as a tactic rather than smashing windows and putting people's safety at risk. I would like to suggest however, that in the long run, it's the actions of Muscatelli and Senior Management that are causing any loss of repute rather than the Hetherington. But it's probably best to avoid this subject really - I'm aware that a variety of views exist and I'm also aware of how easy it is to offend people over the internet when talking about contentious issues like this.

Just realised that my first exam is on at the same time as the royal wedding. Well chuffed that I'll miss it.
People, help me with a piece of advice please.

Is there any possibility to live in Edinburgh and study in Glasgow?
You know, take a bus or a train from Edinburgh every morning to go to Glasgow?
If yes, is there any possibility to get a kind of subscription and not pay daily for the road?
If no... well, it's no :P

I've heard of one person living in Edinburgh and studying in Glasgow, but on the whole it's not a good idea;

Living expenses in Edinburgh are higher
Travel costs will be ridiculous
It will take several hours out of every day just for travelling
You'll miss out on social events that finish in the early hours if you travel by public transport, or drinking sessions (if you drink) because you have to drive.
I live about 10 miles away from the city centre (about an hour and a quarter all in in terms of walking to the train, getting the underground etc) and it really plays with you at times, I'll spend several weeks just in a foul mood because I have to commute, living in Edinburgh would be about 10 times worse I reckon
Well, my parents live in Edinburgh, so I don't worry about accommodation. (I'm not from the UK though)

It's the transport I'm interested about :P

i do it every day. It's fab. If you like sexy suited men and getting up early - you will love it!

And you can claim travel expenses and not have to live in fear of getting stabbed etc

Aye it's alright for the first year, even the second year isn't too bad.
But 4 years of it really grinds (especially when you've had 2 years in the middle staying a 5 minute walk away)
Especially the cost of food, which you can't claim back.
Oh God, the protesters have only gone and got an article in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/mar/25/students-alternative-occupation-glasgow-university

"a little Libya" :facepalm2: I suspect I know the member of staff who said that. He's involved in this and it sounds like something he'd say.

Why did I get neg repped for this post: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showpost.php?p=30477082&postcount=3146?

What nonsense.

Rest assured that when they graduate (if they graduate), with their nonsense degrees, they will hit the real, cold ground with a deafening thump. The real world is coming their way.

I don't need to worry about that.

I just hate the fact that they disrupt everyone else. I couldn't do my work the other day because of all the racket.

on a more serious note, will you be around over easter. I wish to have sexual intercourse with you

Aye, it is absolutely disgusting.

I attempted to watch that video, but I only got to the 5 minute mark before wanting to punch somebody.

Anybody else up for setting up several boom boxes around the Hetherington and play loops of the most annoying choruses from the most annoying songs over the past 50 years until they give up and leave the building out of sleep deprivation and/or insanity?

A bit of this:

They'll soon get tired of it, but , for anyone walking past, you can't beat a bit of Haddaway. Win Win.

They appear to have vandalised the walls of the senate while they were there last week as well....

Heya, erm, I have a question.

How do I get from Glasgow to St Andrews?

By bus or train - doesnt matter, however, what matters is the price - I cant afford to pay more than 30 quid as I have other expenses to cover such as hotel fees and some other stuff... so yeah~

I am open for suggestions

Naw, that's just some MDF they've stuck up whilst redecorating that part of the building.

First Scotrail website says it's £9.70 to Leuchars (the nearest station to St Andrews) as long as you book in advance. If you know exactly when you want to leave/return then you could book two of these and it would come to £19.40. Alternatively, if you want freedom to return whenever you want, if you book an open off-peak return it's £25.40. Any other information is here: http://www.scotrail.co.uk/

Not too sure about buses :p:

Ahh right, my mistake. Just the fact that the person who posted it stated that it was on the senate walls.

If you go by train you have to change at Edinburgh.

There's a bus directly from Buchanan bus station to St Andrews which takes about 2 and a half hours. Don't know how much it costs but probably £30 or less return.
see here: www.st-andrews.ac.uk/visiting/Bustimetables/

It's the 'X24 24 Fife' option on the stagecoach website www.stagecoachbus.com

To be honest, although you're stuck on it for ages, the bus is probably the best option as you have none of the hassle of changing and is more or less the same journey time.
