Honestly, i have detested every minute of the course and can't wait to finish it! This is making revision difficult! I'm struggling with how broad it is. Can't see how i can possibly be fully prepared for it. My essay was a lot better than i expected but not great!

What were your seminar topics? Mine were Race and Ethnicity and State Formation. Got to learn State Formation for the essay part and Race and Ethnicity for the source question.

Mine too! Which seminar group were you in? Highly unlikely we were in the same one though, I think lots of the groups had the same topics. Did my essay on state formation, so can't do that for the exam essay.

I've just learned quotes, hoping that a gender relations essay question comes up, praying I can wing the close reading...so yeah. It's either going to be good, or very very bad depending on the essay question. :s-smilie:
4 exams next week :indiff:

Looking on the bright side, only 10 hours of exams and then I'm free (excepting dissertation) from Uni for 4 and a bit months...

I'm praying for a religion based question... and I'm planning on winging the close reading!

Why the **** did I not turn up to lectures?! I don't know the plots of half the books we're supposed to :s

Because the lectures are a load of bull? Did you go to any of The Human Stain ones? The lecturer was going on about 'spunk' for half an hour...

Don't worry, I haven't read Great Expectations or Orlando...or any of that Walcott guy's poetry. And haven't looked at Hamlet in 2 years... ****. Oh well.

Nope! Mind you didn't go to Human Stain ones due to actual illness!

Didn't go to Walcott, Fat Black Womans, Great Expectations, Short Stories and quite a few others. Orlando lectures were crap. She didn't talk about Orlando, she talked about lesbians and dildos and strap ons and the clitoris. And now thanks to the fact we have a deaf guy and translator, I know the sign language for clitoris and fisting.
Haha, I am in third year now but remember the human stain lectures very well. Did she give you a handout with pictures of spunk?

If you have time, there is a really good lecture online about the human stain. It's about an hour long and from Yale university. I used that as exam prep as I hadn't read the book and it was quite useful

Might do that just in case I have to do it for close reading!

 That was the same lecturer that did The Human Stain ones. Oh dear lord.
Actually thinking about it I am not sure whether it was just an hour long. I listen to the online things quite a lot as exam preparation  Thinking about it some more it might have been a whole lecture series. but definitely worth it!

She didn't give handouts but did show them on the projector thing.

Oh yeah! It's on moodle. Really helped a lot since it actually talked about the book.

How is honours lit treating you?

:afraid: she has scarred me for life!
I think it's the same prize as a normal loan book. So not too expensive. Can you try an renew it though?

Honours is going ok although my lack of motivation is showing in my grades and I am not studying enough at the moment. Lectures are more in detail than in 1st and 2nd year but there is only one a week and a one hour seminar for my courses. I think that's bad for me as I am missing the structure a bit if that makes sense?
First exam is on Tuesday.
Oh and about the handout. I threw mine out right away I really didn't need pictures of sperm on canvas. My flatmate however kept his and wrapped my birthday present in it. Gotta love your friends

We call her Spunk Lady
It says on the homepage that overdue books cost 5p a day and short loan 50p an hour. I believe 1 week long books are 'normal' but I can't be completely sure.
If you keep the book longer you can either hand it in in person and pay the fine right away or just return it and unless your fine is over a few pounds you can keep borrowing.
Well just look into your library record online. It shows you how high your fines are so if it becomes really bad you can quickly go in if you have to? (Unless you live far away)

Urgh, I have to read a book in german by Thursday and I don't understand it, and there's no way I can not read it, as half the exam is on it!
