I never spattered your subject, just said it wasn't useful, which explains why Strathclyde, which specialises in useful subjects wouldn't provide a course as enjoyable as the one at Glasgow.

Your degree is useless... That doesn't mean you shouldn't study it if you want to.

It isn't up to you whether or not a degree is 'useful' or 'relevant'.

I know many people who are literally autistic. They're not all pointlessly and intentionally unpleasant :/

Strathclyde doesn't do pure maths, which is useful. Your subject would practically be nothing without it.
Strathclyde never did it and Glasgow did, I rejected strathclyde and went to Glasgow.

Even now you're determined on getting abuse on here...don't know if troll or just brutally honest.

On another note, is anyone else really bored of the holidays already? This is my first summer without resits and it's dragging on.

Yes :frown: It's really driving me insane. I've been looking for a job all summer and I've found nothing, so not only have I not had work to distract me but I also have no money to do anything else... Aaaargh. Need to get back to uni, I'm going a bit mad I think...
My summer holiday hasn't even started yet and I had no resits! One of the pitfalls of nursing :unimpressed: If you guys are that bored feel free to write my essay for me!

I've got a job but it's part time and only from half 5 to half 8, so it's become really repetitive :s-smilie:. I just end up lazing about the house during the day. The only thing keeping me sane was daily trips to the uni gym, but I can't even do that now while I'm fasting.

Having said that, the placements for my final year will start in June 2012, so the current holidays might be my last full summer off

I'd suggest very few subjects come under the umbrella of "useful" then.
I studied Maths but for all intents and purposes it's a "useless" degree to me as outside of one Financial Maths module (out of a grand total of 30 maths modules I studied in my time at uni), I will never use anything I learned ever again.

Whereas someone studying English Literature may actually... you know, study English Literature as a career, so that would make that degree more useful than mine. Classics is a pretty useful subject for anyone that wants to study Ancient Greece in fact, i'd suggest that without the research these guys have done, the portion of my 4th year project on Greek architecture would have been a hell of a lot more difficult to write about.
I personally feel that all academic degrees are useful, as society needs a wealth of knowledge around many different subjects in order to progress.

That's my tuppence worth anyway!

Indeed. I don't have to justify my degree to him though. And I don't care how useful I am, I'll still be paying taxes, that's all I need to contribute to society.

Me. I've been bored since about two weeks in. It wouldn't be so bad if I was back in Glasgow, but I'm at home for the whole summer, which is making it drag even more.
Not long to go now though. What is it, 4 weeks or something till the new uni year?

Thank you! I was wondering what I'd said that was inflammatory enough to be negged. I just prefer being in Glasgow to Birmingham, that's all! Who wouldn't?!

Didn't like the course at Strathclyde and Glasgow will allow me to study Classics for a year before I do single honours English Lit.

I'm planning to do both this year as well...english lit, history and classics. Can't wait.
