OMG OMG OMG

Finally someone with the same combination of subjects as me! Well at least I think I'm doing History. I'm in second year for that and English but we might be in the same Classics classes :awesome:

*squee*

awesome!I'm trying to decide between classics and comparative lit...A bit stuck between them...Love classical history and literature like Ovid and Homer so Classics seems a good idea ,but also love foreign literature so comparative is also tempting ,but I'm not sure how it works in contrast to some subjects.

On another note, is anyone else really bored of the holidays already? This is my first summer without resits and it's dragging on.

****ing bored as ****.
So I had a question for my adviser of studies, e-mailed him on Monday, got no reply, so went in in person when I was in Glasgow anyway yesterday. The girl told me only my adviser could answer my q, so I've just called him today and no answer! Maybe he's at lunch :frown: This MyCampus thing is very stressful :frown:

Maybe I should say I'm a continuing student, even though this will be my first year at Glasgow ...

EDIT: Nope, that didn't work either :nothing:

It is really annoying me too, it just presumed that I was paying my own fees and now having accepted that fact to itself wont let me add my SAAS stuff. Stupid new system, give me Websurf any day!
I have no acces to my campus yet it appears. How do I sign up to it as a continuing student? I need to make some course choices on there on Friday

I am a continuing student and I got an email this morning which told me I could log in, perhaps wait for that or give them a ring?
Thank you, I didn't get an email yet. I don't want to not be able to sign up for seminars on Friday, so I might give them a ring. Probably the student services in the hub, right?

Edit: I just called them and they said emails are going out this week.
I just hope I will have mine by Friday morning so I can sign up for seminars when they open up (Friday at noon)

May I ask, which subject is this for? Why Friday?

I wonder whether I need to take History. I took it in first year so I could transfer to Glasgow, but I'm not that fussed about continuing with it. I'd like to do English Lit, Classics and Latin ... but I might need to take English Language instead of Latin to get onto single honours English Lit.

Christ, this is confusing.
I am doing English Lit, 4th year. The department told us we could sign up for seminars from 12 noon on Friday onwards. And I guess seminars will fill up quickly .

Single honours Lit definitely requires you to take one year of English Language. If you are transferring are you going straight into second year?
Right, this guy can't be in, or looking at his e-mails, so I've e-mailed someone else.

I see. Yes, I am. I don't know if my course had enough English Language for me to not have to take it at Glasgow ... I doubt it, but I don't mind.

This is why I need to talk to someone URGENTLY, so second year classes don't fill up. :frown: Are all the advisers and that actually in?

Every time I have e-mailed this dude he has replied the same day.

Not sure. I assume you are in the arts faculty? (Or whatever it is called now) There are so called chief advisers of studies you could try and contact.

Aye I have e-mailed a chief adviser and my adviser of studies.

Do you remember when you enrolled in second year, did everyone get the subjects they wanted? On UCAS I applied for English Lit. I hope I can get English Language since it's compulsory for me. It'd be a bit wide if they didn't let me in.
I am sure you will get into English Language, the course was quite big back then too. I think I just picked my courses online when starting second year and that was that.

First year Sociology was oversubscribed though and some poeple got booted out. Mh. But if you got accepted for Lit than I am sure they will find you a place for Language too. I wouldn't worry about it too much just now, you have done all you could

Thanks. I'm quite anxious about Classics too. I don't want to take it to honours or anything though, I just want the opportunity to study it for a year. But it's more important that I get English Lit sorted out.

Yeah, I keep calling and calling and getting no answer, and I don't even know if my e-mail's been read. I'll give the chief adviser a bit longer, then call him. I just want to put my mind at rest, but getting no reply is very frustrating when they're meant to be your point of contact.
Office hours: Monday 12noon - 1pm and Wednesday 1pm - 2pm
Research day: Thursday

Yaaasss finally got a hold of a lady who said she will back me up when my adviser of studies gets back from his holiday. She says she doesn't think there'll be any problem in getting my subjects sorted out ...
