I had 9am lectures last year, it was horrible! I think I start at 10 this year.

I chose 9am this year (my 3rd choice subject) but it is only 3 days a week...

You kids and your first world problems

Seriously though, in 1st year I had a 9am lecture from monday to friday for both semesters, and in maths aswell. This sums up how I felt walking into these lectures by thursday

It is remarkable the difference an hour makes to one's mental well-being

Do you have to get no less than a 2:i all year in English Lit to get onto single honours? :afraid: I have no idea how Strathclyde's grading system compares to Glasgow's, but Glasgow might be harsher, and I might get a 2:ii at some point as I begin to figure out what Glasgow are looking for, at the start of the semester at least.

That realllly sucks if that's right :frown:

No idea  yeahhh I applied for Eng Lit, but gonna change to Lang
I just looked it up because I couldn't remember. To definitely get a place in English Lit you have to fulfil these requirements (copied from their document last year)

1. Twelve standard courses (240 credits) representing at least three subjects.
2. At least eleven of the standard courses (220 credits) must have been completed with grade D or above.
3. At least four of the twelve standard courses) (80 credits) must be at level 2 or above (and these four courses must represent at least two subjects).
e.g. this normally means a maximum of 20 credits at E, F or G is allowable.

So this means that you have to do 3 courses each term etc, so just the standard stuff, and you have to do 4 courses in level 2 subjects. So you would probably do two level two subjects in second year and one first year subject (for you English Lang)

Then the department asks for

1. All four Level 1 and Level 2 English Literature courses.
2. At least Grade D in each of the two Level 1 courses.
3. At least a B grade in one Level 2 course and at least a C grade in the other.

So you don't need a 2.1 for both terms, a B is a 2.1 and a C would be a 2.2. So even if you might struggle at first it will not be a disaster.

If you don't get those grades you can try and appeal/hope they have a space for you but it's not garuanteed.

Thank you soooo much  So it's the grade for the overall term and not each individual essay/exam then? That is a relief!

I hope I'm ok even though I transferred - I did do 40 credits of English Lit in first year, and passed with firsts, so I don't see why there'd be a problem ...
Yes it's the overall term grade. I think the split between course work and exams is 40:60% or 50:50, not exactly sure right now. But you get a term time essay, your presentation and contribution to seminars as well as an exam.

If they let you start in second year I am sure the credit thing is ok. Just put it in for reference/because of the question earlier on how many credits have to be from second year courses.

If it works for you, be happy. It is definitely not working for me. I cannot enrol for a particular Maths course 2M because there are no tutorial slots available.

did you work it out? That plus a non-existant compulsory course it's telling me to do is stopping me from finishing...
I thiiiiink... I have possibly enrolled. But I was kind of hoping for some kind of confirmation email or something...

I got in touch with the Helpdesk, which is available on the right-hand side of myCampus. Explained them the problem and uploaded a screenshot. It took them about one day to fix it.

Ta, just did the same.

Just realised I did all the enrollment before I got my e-mail saying I was allowed to, so I have now un-enrolled and just stuck everything in the cart thing in case I'm not supposed to be doing it yet
