Ahh. I think it'll be different for me if I choose to go. Nice you actually get paid

Haha, I would be absolutely mental to do that though

But it'd be so cool :colone: lol I can't wait

I'm very jealous of Spain  Hating French/the French/France in general at the moment because of the test, I know the texts ish but struggling to fit in all the rubbish about national histories and misremembering and place of gender and all the stuff I thought I could avoid after Higher English

Yeah I don't fancy France...I should probably go there since I'm probably a bit better at Spanish than French but I'd really rather go to Spain
God, don't even go there with bloody culture tests!! I had a lab report to be in on Monday which is sooo not something I'm good at due to general uselessness at sciences! So I was focussing on that then I had my Spanish culture test on Monday which was god awful and I'd be surprised if I scraped a D3 for :frown: compared to that French was marvellous! And by that I mean I may have managed a D2...hatin life!!

Does anyone go to the Mitchell Library to study? :beard:

I know people* who did this studying for Highers/Advanced Highers and they said it did wonders for them, total quiet and plenty of space. Haven't see the attraction myself** purely because the Uni library has so many materials and, at this moment in time, always plenty of space.

*Yeah, okay, I don't go. Still wanted to chip in.
**Although the fact I am posting on TSR when I am meant to be reading various EU documents suggests any library would be a better option than sitting at home. But they don't have comfy office chairs in libraries :colondollar:

 The chairs aren't very comfortable but there is LOADS of space and everything you need

I read in the Adam Smith Library, on the very comfy chairs in the corner. Usually quite peaceful, the only distraction being the constant stream of people coming in, discovering the computers are occupied, and dejectedly shuffling out again.

You've piqued my interest, might give it a look...

If I see someone pouring over Celebrity Watch I'll come and say hi

OMG CAITLIN MORAN  I remember in her column she didn't know the name for the Pope's robes and called them his "God dress"

That's awesome

She's an amazing journalist*, first 'discovered' her when she did the piece on/interview with Lady Gaga, which was immense :worthy: Despite that, she doesn't seem to be well known when I speak to folk!

*Was going to use the  emoticon but I just found out she's married :frown:

I didn't think she had many male fans as she's a "strident feminist" :flutter: I noticed someone in the qmunicate magazine in the QM wrote an article about her. It was all like "Yeah I'm a feminist now after reading the book Caitlin Moran released this summer" and I was like "Bitch please, I'd read 'The Female Eunuch' and Laurie Penny before reading 'How To Be A Woman' :pierre:"

But everyone should know about her. I wish I could write like her :colondollar:

She's written for The Times since she was 19 and doesn't even have a degree. That would give most TSR folk a bad turn.

Urgh, I was going to put up a picture here I got from RevLeft that would make my point better, but I can't find it. Basically it was some street art with the words 'I support feminists of all genders'. I would have been like 'take that!' But naw. It was a male that put me onto her too actually, back in my Guardianista days! I don't know many female Times readers...

Good rant though! You should have done one of those 'Letters to the Editor' (if qmunicate has such a thing). I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of those books.

I didn't know that, everyday is a school day. It's certainly something I wouldn't have thought possible. The rest of the wags on here probably wouldn't believe you.
Caitlin is amazing. Incredible turn of phrase she's got.

That sounds cool! :awesome: Ah I used to read The Times during my Highers, as our teacher told us to read 'quality journalism' in order to prepare us for the close reading paper. I just read Caitlin Moran :teehee:

HA! You haven't seen how I can rant! :colone: Wellll they are most popular amongst girls

She won some sort of writing competition in her teens which got her a lot of attention, and The Times offered her a job as a columnist and she was on a £50,000 a year salary at 19, after growing up in poverty. She stopped going to school at 15 or something, and just read like six books a week. What a woman :ahee:

I know! I once posted that I knew someone who'd got into St Andrews with ABBBC or something and someone replied "I don't believe that. Are you telling the truth?" :lolwut: And I thought, **** you then, just trying to provide some hope.

That's why I'd never be a PS helper or something - don't want to help people like that.

French wasn't the best, but (don't hate me) question a) was almost exactly what I'd revised so I was happy enough, I'm just not sure what I wrote was that relevant. Italian was ok-ish. Giving myself a night off studying for once and going to see a band tonight though so I'm cheery despite two probable failures

That's lucky! I'm sure you'll have done well  hopefully they mark them quickly and then I can burn them and pretend they never happened
I've been offered a job in the library but I can't do it because it's during my English lectures :cry2:

I've been looking for a job since last September :cry2:

:nooo: I've already set my heart on honours courses for English

Do you know how they're chosen? Is it first-come first-serve? :erm:

Seems a bit wide when your degree depends on your enjoyment of the courses :frown:

I desperately want to study 19th/20th century lit :colondollar:

No idea. I'm not studying Eng Lit after this year. Best bet is to email Donald Mackenzie?

Just got my D*** F***** ticket...although this year it's just Daft Friday rather than with the stars which I'm gutted about :frown:

If I chose my modules correctly I shall try and get lots of Katie Lowe and Marc Alexander (who you'll meet next term I think...)
Has anyone seen Stuart Ritchie's latest fail?
