I'm always amused when people say that! I've met mine once! In freshers week. I'm now going into fourth year! I wonder if i'm supposed to have met with them?!

Oh okay, maybe MVLS take it more seriously? Cos I know people who've had warning emails saying they'll face discipline procedures if they don't hurry up & make an appointment before a specified date...

I'm picking my classes for first year: and my Astronomy class has different options to choose from such as:
LB01 5890 up to LBO6 58906. What do these means and what are the differences between them? They are all scheduled from the same time

Ive been to see my Advisor maybe 3/4 times over the last two years. Went when I was told to arrange appointments and also to get a letter to get out of Jury duty at exam time. I prefer emailing him tho as he replies really quickly and I dont have to wait a week to see him

I had to get one of those too...they really should do jury duty some other way as it's clear we're not gonna do it over exams!

It got me out of it that time but a few weeks after my exams finnished I was called again  Was pick to sit on two jurys so at least I dont have to do it again for another 5 years.

They should be able to see that we are student because even if we dont have exams, we still have lectures/labs/tutorials etc that we shouldnt really be missing.

Luckily I got my advisor to also include in my letter that I live in England and am about to go to Canada for a year so really am not a good choice for juror. Hopefully they'll agree and not ask me for a while!

Probably not, but as I don't have an address in Scotland anymore I can hope I might be left alone for a bit! Found it very funny, all the English girls in my flat got asked for jury duty in Scotland but the Scottish ones didn't!

I had jury duty on the 16th of May last year when my last exam was on the 13th (remember I graduated last year)

Not really, actually, as my party plans were from the 20th onwards (almost all of my friends either did physics or astro, or joint honours maths with them, so they still had exams). It was just my plans to catch up on about 2 months of sleep deprivation that were ruined. Here's the bit that really kills though, I arrived at 9am (that's when I'd been told), only to find that they'd pushed the beginning of the trial back to 3pm and I wasn't needed until about 1. I didn't get picked in the end either, so my day was ruined for nothing

haha, if you could only have seen my face when I got the letter through.
Fortunately it was only a day wasted and I'm fairly certain I got home, went to bed and slept until Tuesday.

Have you moved to Canada yet?

Ooooooh exciting stuff. I start my new (London) job on Monday, though actually they're sending me to a hotel in Windsor for a week.
Right now I'm staying at my aunt's house near Reading while I hunt for a flat. Bored senseless :frown:

Nice, perks of the job early on  although I could never work in London, hate the city with a passion!

Yeah I can imagine you're bored, flat hunting is never fun! Dreading trying to flat hunt for 4th year while I'm in Canada...

Ah each to their own, I grew up in Glasgow so I'm bored of it, London is a great change for me

And the flathunting is alright actually, I've seen some real nice flats, going to view this room http://photos.spareroom.co.uk/images/flatshare/listings/large/24/65/2465430.jpg http://photos2.spareroom.co.uk/images/flatshare/listings/large/24/65/2465434.jpg tonight.

I don't think I've ever seen a bedroom that size in my life!

So what do people do on Freshers? Do they go to clubs? Because I'm 17 and won't be able to get into clubs!
I don't particularly drink but I'm confident enough to survive.
Will I still be able to socialise without going to clubs?

The room isn't actually that size, they've used a special lens on the camera which distorts the perspective to make the room look deeper. That is likely a single bed that they have put two pillows on to make it look like a double when the image is distorted.
