Lol! Well I've been caught out in a dressing gown once but one of my flatmates once ended up having to go out in just a towel with soaking wet hair cos she was just out of the shower. So annoying when it wasn't an actual fire! We did have a bit of fire going on once and the alarm didn't go off!

Quite a lot of people in my class have cleaned up their looks for their final year. The long/wacky/weird hairstyles have gone and in their place are much more conservative styles. I don't really understand why people are so negative about some having a 'stranger' dress sense than they may be used to. Seems a bit narrow-minded to me.
Day off Uni, but I have work. To cap it off I got up at 6 for a 7am start only to be told I wasn't needed 'til 11, brilliant.

I agree it's a bit narrow-minded if we're judging people by what they wear, and we shouldn't grudge people their unique dress sense- one of the good things about Uni is meeting different people, would be a bit boring if we were all the same. However, some people do just look completely stupid.
GU Guardian = 5.30 on Monday, or it was this week anyway (can't remember who said that)
I don't think they look stupid, they just stand out a lot more. I think it's more obvious with guys because the gulf between the standard jeans/hoodie/trainers and the whacky hair/shimmering jackets/girly jumpers seems much greater. I'm just a bit scared to speak to the mentally dressed ones :colondollar:

Tbh I think she was just a bit short with me saying I was feeling faint because I wasn't eating even though I had eaten that day. Oh well! I'm more annoyed that people think I was pretending to be sick

How're you feeling today? You weren't looking too healthy last night :o:

My throat is still screwed, supposed to be giving an induction talk at Murano tomorrow, but might get someone else to cover for me. I probably should have taken some time off, but unfortunately we were a bit short as it was.

If I may be frank, I don't think people were suggesting you were pretending to be sick- rather that the way it got back to Morven that you obviously hadn't made it in for tent duty 3-5pm on Friday, but wanted to come to Cheesy pop at 7.30pm, made it look much worse than it needed to be. If we're honest, even with the best will in the world, that doesn't look to good. Anyways, job got done and we (despite the GUU's best efforts) had a decent Sunday night- all in the past now!
Yeah, I totally appreciate your honesty. I know that looked a bit **** but I don't even know what I was thinking; I ended up having to go to bed at 9 that night so even in other circumstances I shouldn't have been trying to go out at all. I still felt rubbish on Saturday and Sunday too. And even still a bit now. Grr! I'm not used to being ill at all. It's just the way some people spoke to/treated me left me thinking the SRC is a bit :nn: just now.

I hope you get better soon. Stock up on the paracetamol. I think I've developped a minor addiction to it.

I think the GUU went wayyyyyyyyy too far on Sunday :yucky:.

I'd argue that they can stand out and look good* or stand out and look stupid. Although put "I'd argue" before anything and it'd be true of me, I could start a rammy in an empty house.

Anyway, I love how the girls are getting slated for looking the same and some guys are getting slated for daring to look different

*Not gay, honest.

Yeah, I noticed that! With girls, there seems to be groups of friends that dress the same (like a "rah" group, a rockerish group, a "Urban Outfitters/Topshop threw up on me" group...I don't know what I fit into! Maybe "Primark threw up on me!" ), whereas with guys, the majority dress in a similar way and there's only a few that are "different."

I've been confused so much by the GUU/QMU thing.

If you join one - is there anything you can't do in the other or is it just more expensive?
I've been told that you have to join GUU first, if you're going to join both.
I've been told that if one finds out you're a member of both, you'll be banned from both!

Join the GUU and you will live forever.

In reality, they never find out, do what you want! They can't check up on each other, if they can, they didn't do it to me.

Just a guide, QMU is good for relaxing, GUU is a bit more fun. So it's good to join both.

And I have no idea what you are talking about with the more expensive stuff. The prices don't depend on membership. You never really even need to show your union cards anyway. They get you like £2 off entry on club nights.

Hive tomorrow, in Uni from 10-11 and 1-2, drop me a text if you're free. Finally got a GUU card 9 months since my last got confiscated, it feels good

it doesn't matter. i haven't joined either union since first year (when i joined both) and yet i've been to both loads.

The unions can't find out if you've joined the other one - data protection act etc. Just don't show the wrong card at the door!

You can go to either union, you just might need to be signed in by a member (definitely at the QMU, the GUU policy seems to vary..) and you'll pay a bit extra in.

I've always been a QMU member (Cheesy Pop addict and it's where the socities I'm in meet) and I've never had a problem getting into the GUU.
Apparently the GUU rules state that you can't be a member of any other union.

But QMU doesn't have this.

But in reality you can just join both, I did this for first year and am doing the same again.
