Argh, spent the best part of an hour trying to login to MyAthens, doing exactly as the library website says about the GUID and linking from them. I try one last thing- the forgotton password route- and my GUID does not show up on their records. This is seriously annoying, anyone else had this problem?

EDIT: I've found a way around it, thankfully.

From what I gathered, it's not Athens anymore, you have to go to "log-in via institution" and then select Glasgow.

I'm going to attempt this now, I need some papers for the presenation I have due next week.
As above, you need to use the institutional log-in, not Athens. Some sites don't give you this option, so you need to go to them via the library website, which can be a pain in the arse.

Everybody, the GUU tonight! Great gig, Vendor Defender.
Cheers all, I just logged into Westlaw via the library webpage without going through Athens, who knows if that's the way to do it but it worked :top:

For some reason I can't get onto Westlaw when I'm using my laptop on campus :s-smilie: it just sits at loading for ages then says "failed to open page".
I've used the actual computers on campus and I can get it on them, and I can get Lexis and stuff fine on my laptop. But not Westlaw. Weird.

That's a weird one, can't help I'm afraid 'cos I never take my laptop in. Lexis seems to have all it has though IME and, anyway, if you're in the library you've got the texts there? I've always preferred reading from paper than a screen.

Yeah, it's not a real problem. Just a bit weird. My friend has the same problem, and she also has a Macbook, so we're wondering if it's a Macbook thing, tho that seems kinda unlikely.
I'm 90% sure Foxo is meant to be in my politics tutorial. The tutor read out his name today but he wasn't there. Mystery.

Someone else was saying this with a macbook - Jennifer, if you know her. Plus a girl called Sophie at my tutorial. On my old netbook I got on fine, but I had to return it and the new one I was using today said there was a problem with its security certificate.

I'm pretty sure foxo doesn't really do classes :awesome:

He's meant to be in my English lectures but I've never seen him.

Did you say you did Economics btw?

Lol, it was Jennifer I was talking to. Small world :P:

Ah, I'll try again at some point.

I did, yeah.

Are you studying it at level 2?

Yep

I don't know what you look like though so I don't know if I've seen you! That's weird. Now I'm going to wonder if anyone looks at me for too long...lol!

I have this problem on the library computers when using Firefox. It won't let me add the certificate. I've been thinking of badgering the IT people about it but it's simple browser snobbery at play (opens up fine in IE)

For those of you who are using your own laptops, if you add the certificate on your home connection, it should work fine.

For once I fully intended to go; unfortunately, I relied on a flatmate of mine to explain the process of finding a tutorial group for politics and he told me an absolute load of ********. Will be there this week though, unless there's a nuclear holocaust or something.

Hmm. I've been to the last few and either you're not the stiff upper lipped Englishman I expected or you weren't there. Scott Brown at noon on Friday, yes?
So, I'm going back up to Glasgow for a conference at the University- and we get a list of names of attendees sent out. I'm not sure I like 'University of Oxford' next to my name. It looks...odd.

Shall be hitting the QM for all its worth that weekend though, it'll have been over two months by then, that's too long.
How's it going down there Chris?
