Alright fair enough. But you shouldn't put me under the same bracket as the rest of TSR, I'm nothing like them.

Ramo, you have a lot to learn.

Well let's hope I learn it at the University of Glasgow.

Most 'intelligent' women these days are feminists. You shouldn't let them stop you from going to Oxford or Cambridge. If you let those feminists restrict you from achieving greatness then you might as well hold up the white flag and say, "Hey, you've won".

Modern (Western) feminists aren't the ones who want equal rights, they're the ones who want to have superior rights without having to actually do any work to that end. The intelligent women started knuckling down and getting on with it about twenty years ago.

tbh, there are a lot of irritating fringe people even at Glasgow, you learn to blank them out. They tend not to harm anyone too much, you might even begin to consider them a sort of adorable mascot.

And yes I'm posting here on Christmas day because my family still haven't woken up leave me alone
Some of us have to work on Christmas day, but for £20 an hour, I'm not complaining too loudly.

Ouch, oh well, just have christmas tomorrow then.
Since I'm doing the rounds on my goodbyes, I thought I'd hit my other regular threads and say my cheerios. It's been almost a year to the day since I came back to TSR after a short spell in 08, but I've came to the conclusion I have enough things on my plate to be moderating this place as well. Since the result of de-modding would probably just cause me to come back on and report posts and thus create more work for me, it's best if I'm (forcefully) removed altogether! It's been a blast, all the best for the future n'all that, and Stacey has my facebook details if any of you want to keep in touch.

All the best,

Chris.

Didn't talk to you much on here, but always looked out for your posts. Good luck for the future :top:
Don't leave. Just stop being a moderator and leave it at that. I don't see any reason for you to leave altogether. I know we've had our differences, but I still think you're a great member who makes a great contribution to this site.

:emo:

Well since I know you now I guess it's less sad :p:

I'm sure I'll catch you on fb/around Glasgow (since you never seem to leave the place!) at some point
Cheers for being so damn informative! Good luck in the future.

Cheerio Chris. Thanks for all your UoG chat and insights! All the best and good luck out there in the big bad world
Ha, thanks guys. I'm sure someone will step up and fill my gap for Glasgow and history knowledge. They'll probably do a damn site better than me. It'll probably take a day or two to get it all processed, so I may be on here tomorrow answering PMs, but FB is a better bet.

And I do leave Glasgow...occasionally. With any luck I might manage to get Oxford's first ever distance-learning degree.

All the best.
Anyone know about the snow situation at uni? At the moment, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get back up for the start of term - we've had a lot of snow here and we're getting more in the next 24 hours, plus I've also heard the Borders are really bad and are running low on grit :s-smilie:

Police advised yesterday that people should only travel in the borders if absolutely necessary. Temperatures hitting a new low (-20 here :eek4:) this weekend.

Town is fine, though. My mates have been in the library this week and haven't had any difficulty. Buses and trains are all running (to schedule as well, I believe).
Everywhere is running low on grit, tbh. Trains are running relatively normal, so you should be able to get to Glasgow that way. Also, since you don't have exams or anything it might not matter too much about being a day or two late arriving back.
Actually in Glasgow there doesn't seem to be much snow as there are so many people. Dread to think what the weather will be doing to the eratic-at-the-best-of-times heating controls throughout campus, though!
Speak of the devil... from uni email account:

Dear colleague /student

The University is endeavouring on a daily basis to keep its roads and pathways clear of snow and ice. However, along with much of the country, we have exhausted our supply of grit and salt and, despite all possible avenues being explored, we will not be supplied with more for at least two weeks.

Work will continue to clear as much snow and ice as possible; you may see Estates & Buildings staff spreading sand - this is designed to provide grip underfoot, but will not melt the ice. Users of the Campus should note that extreme care should be taken while walking or driving in the University estate during the prolonged period of extreme weather.

Yours sincerely
