No L3 geography trip to Mallorca this year, due to the FlyGlobespan collapse. Can't say I'm disappointed - although the sun was appealing, the ~£350 price wasn't.

Sun? Mallorca has sun? Never saw much of that last year! I hear it's now being done in Glasgow? How are they working that?

Yep it was voted 60-11 in favour of Glasgow. Field stuff around Glasgow between 9 and 6, and then presentations/group stuff (probably) in the East Quad. They say they're going to try and keep the social side of it - meals, nights out, evening get togethers etc.
Any travel costs will have to be paid by us, which is completely fair, considering the saving vs. Mallorca.

Where were the other options? Are the topics still being kept the same?

Tbh, as a student who travels in, I probably wouldn't be too impressed with the set up, but not much could be done really.

Only two options - Mallorca (but we get there on our own, by any means) or Glasgow. I think they could have provided a compromise tbh - maybe somewhere in the UK that wouldn't be too expensive but still maintained the social side of things.

The department boobed by 'strongly recommending' booking with FlyGlobespan ASAP. OK, they couldn't have foreseen the airline's collapse, but EasyJet on the same route would have been a much safer option (and probably cheaper - I was quoted £70 return on Newcastle-Palma at the beginning of December, whereas others were being quoted £100+ with FGS from Glasgow at around the same time).

You could go to Swansea again  Glasgow does sort of defeat some of the points for going abroad, like having to really think about what you are doing and how to do them.
OK ive got a birthday coming up and I want to go for some drinks in the West End. Any suggestions?

Is it just drinks, or are you wanting dinner too? Somewhere more upmarket or somewhere dirt cheap?

There's always Ashton Lane, but very expensive. Stravaigin too, or Balbirs, or The Left Bank. Oran Mor?

I suggest that you invite me. :p:
It depends if you want cocktails or beers. What night will it be? If you want quiet drinks then I wouldn't really bother at the weekend
Not looking for quiet, i'm looking for lively, but not dancing. Up or down market doesn't really matter tbh. What's good on ashton lane?
Jinty's is nice, slightly less expensive than the rest of the lane. Radio isn't too bad either. Or Brel? Vodka Wodka is a bit clubby and is very expensive.
ARGH. The people I'm supposed to be living with next year (aka my friends) have decided they don't want to. GAAAAAH! Not this again :emo:

That's rubbish! But there is still plenty of time left.
Anyone else still waiting on results? One left to get and my arse is knitting buttons...

Congrats :top: Was surprised at myself as well, I think the further away I get from an exam, the worse I think I've done...

Got 3/4 on Friday, just Jurisprudence to go. How did the others go? (that can be an open question for everyone, feel free to brag :p:)

Passed Legal Systems despite random Latin terms that noone had ever heard of, B1 for Contract and B2 for Criminal. Happy days.

I have a feeling SISL might destroy my soul this term however.

Quality.

And SISL is brilliant, I don't care what anyone else says.
I like to cover all the bases, so I got A's, B's, C's and D's :p:
