Ah really? Who was it? I know 2 of them well-ish, 1 of them I've spoken to once or twice and two I've never spoken to. It was probably one of the girls I haven't spoken to, I think the others are freshers.

Rachel?

That's her.
You may not have a bath in Pentland but you have 2 extra showers! Would you really want to use a bath in Murano though...? Think how long you'd have to spend cleaning it before you use it! (We filled ours with jelly last year...)

The only halls that are less than 15 minutes walk away are the student appartments and you might have to share a room, ick. Queen Margaret is about the same distance away as Murano.

I suppose a bath in murano wouldnt be the most enticing thing ever..

I agree with the person who said earlier in the thread that living in Student Apartments kinda castrates your friend-making chances. I'm living with my partner in one of the Southpark Terrace flats, and having privacy is great, but we've seemed to miss out on the automatic friends you make when you're sharing a flat in the big apartment places.

I'm sure everyone else in the other flats in our building are lovely, but you just don't get a chance to talk to them.
God, my flatmates are so boring. Most of them have finished their exams but none of them EVER want to go out. I can't wait until I join some unions so I can go out with other people...

Student Appartments. I've put in a request to transfer, though. It's just awful.

Meh. I'd be weary about that - a friend of mine transferred because he was bored of his room-mate, but he hates the "cretins" at Murano even more. He comes back here every night for dinner and usually ends up staying for four to six hours. The cleanliness and the sobriety of this place is better than the hallways caked in vomit and the oafs who stumbled in at 4am and decided to play tennis with a frying pan and glass bottles, then claimed that the place was robbed the next day.

But then, perhaps you're not as misanthropic as him or I, plus the people at the student apartments I'm at don't tend to have problems socialising, although it's rather close-knit because there's only twelve of us. Some of us considered meeting people from the other student apartments building at that "Student Apartments Christmas Dinner", but it looked like such a hopeless marketing ploy we guessed it would probably end up just being the few of us from this building.

It sounds like he got a particularly bad lot, to be fair. It might just be virtue of the fact that I took a gap year, and so got put in a flat with people who'd done the same (and were thus older and wiser), but I'm in Murano and I've found my flatmates to be incredibly mature on the whole.

It does, I will admit. Are you in one of the five or twelve person flats though? When applying for accommodation I shuddered at the concept of the latter, because they just seem to be designed to appeal to those who are going to university for the sole reason of destroying their liver. :p:

But I can't help but be cynical and assume that the free spaces at Murano are mainly going to be in places similar to where my dear friend has ended up, otherwise the inhabitants wouldn't be quite so desperate to transfer.

By the way, that signature is ******* awesome. Is it from Viz or is it simply very close to their notorious style of tabloid mockery?

Jeez! It's not that bad in my flat! Lol! I think you do need to have a certain flexibility about you in Murano though...you can't expect total silence after 11pm or whatever but it's certainly not that bad ...every night!

I'm in a 10-person flat (Grampian 5), we don't get a bath, we have 2 washing machines and dryers, and my flatmates aren't exactly partyheads. One of them plays bad music late at night (in the room next to me) but that aside, my flat's not that bad.

Except that I'm the only one who goes to the QM.
