People really need to stop writing/highlighting/scrawling all over books! It really pisses me off when I can't just read a page without having to try to ignore someone else's pink highlighter. If you really must write on it, use pencil and do it lightly. And preferably rub it out after.

Applicants Day tomorrow. Bring on the crowds...
Haha, I'm avoiding it like the plague. I'm working instead, woo.

I may resort to hitting them if they get in the way of us trying to prepare for fieldclass presentations...
Come lunchtime I'll be in no mood to be welcoming and polite.

Just try to avoid the library, they all cluster in little groups. And if you do go to the lab watch out for the geomatics people, I hear they aren't too happy with the third years.

Is the snow really bad up there? I'm meant to be working tomorrow, but if the trains are messed up because of it then I might wrangle myself a day off..

I imagine it's because some of my year have been hogging computers. Would I be correct?
I don't fit into this category - my group camped out in the L1 lab from 10-10. We were the last ones out of the East Quad tonight...

It's coming down pretty heavy, but thankfully it isn't lying. Yet.

Yep, and making a general nuisance of themselves whilst they have deadlines. I think they do have quite a lot on at the moment so are needing to do work. L1 lab is so underrated, I quite like it in there. That's where I go if I don't need a computer.

Hmm, forecast is heavy snow tonight and tomorrow. It's been raining here though, so might take a while to lie. I don't really mind going to work, but it'll be a pain in the arse if I can't get home!
I am going to help out at the open day tomorrow, I can really do with an additional 50 pounds this month somehow.
Last time I did it most people were nice but I got ask whether students would really be expected to walk from Queen Margaret (you should have seen the horror in their faces when I said there isn't a regular shuttle during the day), whether it would be ok to leave the dishes for the cleaners to do (once a week, lovely) and whether there is a certain class system concerning the accommodation. Haha, took me a while to get he really meant what he was asking. So yeah, it was great fun for me
I'm also surprised at the number of people wondering if there's buses from Murano/Queen Margaret in the accommodation threads.

I'm definitely avoiding the campus then - home studying it is!
The walk from Murano is fine - I used to quite enjoy it. Better than my current 35 minute tramp along Dumbarton Road

I really need to head into the library tomorrow instead of staying at home; this new revelation is starting to depress me!

Glad I checked this thread now, at least I'll be expecting it.

You'd probably be fine as long as you avoid going into the library or using any of the machines between 11-1. That seems to be the prime time for tours and the like to go on.

avoid going into the library

:banghead: That's where I was planning on going.

Ah well, I guess I'll be a genuinely brilliant advert for the Uni, seated something like this:

I was meaning if you could get in before the crowds and manage to get stuff you need, then you should be ok. I've had the pleasure of negotiating the library when there have been about thirty 'goals' groups about. Everywhere I went they were there, with people refusing to move or just ignoring me.

I think we're all excellent adverts with our moaning about freshers.
I think I'm going to go bury myself in the Adam Smith library or the Thurso Street Archives (or just bury myself). Either that, or I'm donning the Oxford hoodie and acting like the good offer holder that I am, and asking all sorts of daft questions to people who know that I know the answer. Where is the Beer Bar...
It's such a rotten day; I don't know if that'll have put some people off...
Aye- British summer time brings with it cold weather, sleet and gales, for the same three days that both a major international conference and the open day is held. The sterotype of Glaswegian weather will leave with reinforcements in the minds of quite a few people this week...

It put me off, still in my house after my moaning last night

Apparently it wasn't even that bad in the library... I've been home all day too, but have my spies  :p:

EDIT: realise that was slightly nullified by Fyrefight's statement above... oh well.

I should've braved the rain then, I've done a grand total of 0 pieces of work, unless renewing a book due in for today online counts as work... I should definitely get some of those spies
