The general school open day (i.e. for folk that hadn't even decided to apply) is usually busier. Besides, half of the University has went home for easter, hence all the conferences and things that are going on now there's free lecture/seminar space.
Hey, not sure any of you can help but i thought it's worth a try. I am considering to go into teaching after my degree but don't have the equivalent of standard grade maths (only got a c). Am looking into evening courses at the moment but all the colleges seem to be ridiculously far away. Does any of you know any close by? I can't really afford to travel for hours in addition to doing this next to uni next year. Thanks

Whereabouts do you live?
The only one I could find that runs Intermediate 2 (equivalent of Standard Grade, which you're unlikely to find at college) after a quick look was Cardonald: http://www.cardonald.ac.uk/courses/show/71/ but I'm not sure how suitable that is distance-wise.
I live in the West End and somehow hoped that there would be something in the town centre or something. It's good to know that intermediate 2 is the same as standard grade as this was the only thing I could find. I called the college you suggested and they don't know anything about the organisation of the course yet, not even how many hours/night on average there usually every week. They suggested to just apply, as it "won't be more than 16 hours". Seemed a bit much to me. Might call again tomorrow and hope someone else answers the phone
Yeah, I can't imagine it being that long. My dad teaches Higher English at night school and that's only three hours a week, so Int 2 maths should be about the same - think I got four hours a week for it when I was at school.
Thank you guys, that's reassuring. It did seem as if she had no idea how the course is organised. I can spare a few hours each week but 16 just wouldn't be possible
I feel really stupid to have to do this but I can't get into the course and am worried to just sit the exam as Maths and I have never been great friends. And it has been years ago and I have no idea how exams etc are organised here so I feel like a course would be best. And there I was sure to never have to do it again after year 13!

Thank you very much for your quick response
Evening classes generally are a bit disorganised, just because they have no ideas of numbers or even if it'll run. They are usually just one night a week for about three hours.
Though, tbh, even if it was guaranteed that people would do the dressing up for the laugh, after the nightmare that was trying to find a seat never mind a computer yesterday, I still don't think I'd feel encouraged to go in...
Do you get extra time in exams for a broken wrist, anyone know? It's not my writing hand, but the cast may be a bit cumbersome. Tbh I should be alright, but was just wondering.
