Ah, websurf. Thank you for letting me know my results today (well, yesterday) when you shouldn't have. So kind of you.

Got me an office. Yay.

Also: Over twice as many applications for SRC helpers (130) as there are places (60). Still hardly anyone with any experience though.

Does it matter that I pre registered for this year before all my level 2 courses are actually on websurf?

I just pre-registered before my honours courses had been added, so I assume you'll be fine. As long as you don't have to take those level 2 courses..

You won't be approved for a while anyway.

Ah cool. I never actually knew you needed to register every year, since I never actually got told much of the procedure aside from handing in course application forms and stuff.

Now all I need is for my loan to come through. Need to remind myself to apply earlier this year, since SAAS are slow as hell.

Loan comes through at the same time for everyone, no? I applied months ago and it's still the 13th Sept my first installment is. Can't wait, only 2 weeks after my first payday

Nah, like the actual acknowledgment letter. They've only just started working on the applications recieved the week I applied, which stupidly was the last week to be guaranteed to get it before the course starts. Won't be making that mistake again.
Ugh, how hard can it be to put me through to the bloody social sciences department on the phone?!

There isn't one, which is where part of your problem may lie. There is the College of Social Sciences, within which is the sociology department, but I don't know if that's what you are looking for. Their number is on the website.

I forgot they'd changed over to this whole colleges thing recently. :o:

Managed to get through in the end though. :yep:

I don't suppose anyone who has done or is going to do history honours has any idea of when we will find out what modules we will be doing?

I want to know too

Chris: thankssss for the birthday message  I'm only seeing it now. Also, last FW did we start the prep week on the Monday or Tuesday? Someone's offered me a job but it goes on to the Monday (6th) so I'm not sure if I can take it or not.

Stace is Glasgow bound...just the lovely train to go...

An office?

I don't even have any room to do work in my bedroom. Let alone an office :hmpf:

Thinking of coming to Glasgow sometime this month. It'll just be for a day trip as I can't really afford hotels or even hostels. Going to Kelvingrove, the Hunterian and Gallery of Modern Art might be a bit too much to see in five hours....

That really depends on how long it will take you to go around each one. And if Kelvingrove and GoMA will even be open because I'm sure the strike action hasn't been resolved yet... They're all quite good, depending on what you like.

Of course. And I do like to take my time :p:

Yeah, I was going to check.

I'll probably still head off even if it's just to wander around, enjoy the city's vibrancy and take some photos. Sit in Kelvingrove Park for a few hours and read.

It will be good seeing my insurance university again  The one was wasn't snobby about accepting me and who, to some extent, I wish I'd gone to.

I'm sure the trains out of Durham run to Glasgow from about 7am- so if you have an early start there's no reason why you can't be around for the whole nine hours or so of opening times and be back in Durham for 9pm at night on a return ticket. If you book far enough in advance they do things like £15 return and the like. Also, the museums are free (dunno about GoMA actually), so a day trip should leave you with change out of £30 if you do it right- all day trip on the subway is about £3.50. Hostels can only be £14 a night if you do that one properly.

Office is in a share with five others at the moment, but I move to a share with two others from October, so should be decent.

I think I got my insurance spot on. Somewhere that I'm sure I would have liked and got me a good degree, but I was never really all that keen on going to and still feel much the same way. Edinburgh's nice and all that, but it's not really a four year kind of place.
The thing about Kelvingrove is that, sadly, it is really badly laid out. Nothing seems to make sense. You could spend a fair while just trying to figure out where the thing you want to see is.

If the weather is crap (come on, it's Glasgow!) you should pay a visit to Voltaire and Rousseau if you have a spare hour or so. Best bookshop ever, unless you are actually looking for something.

See my other post. I'd take the job if I were you. Basically, there's 130 people going for 60 helpers positions, so a lot of people might find themselves not getting in just because they have to pick somebody and have a pile of very similar applications. None of us should bank on getting in- Tommy and Tuula have a tough one on their hands this year- last year we only had enough to cover all the places with about five spares.

Oh yes. I logged in cos it said it would be back up on the 3rd to check the School Results section and there they were. They were mysteriously taken down later in the day and they told G8D they'd be putting the results up on the 5th (today). So I'm guessing a cockup similar to the St. Andrews/Aberdeen one?
