Probably. I have around £120-150 saved up for it, but I'm not sure if that will be enough. I've heard some horror stories of people spending £500+ which scares me a bit.

Considering the cheap booze, what you have saved up should be more than enough to go out every night.

Not that bad for a week, considering I spend £40 when I have a night in town.

Really need to get back to the guu beer bar though, I miss its stench :holmes:

Is it bad I still don't have my pass?.... Can I go in person tomorrow :|? It's a 1 & 1/2 hour trek but I'd rather than that face the queues on the first day.
conway!

I didn't get my pass at all until I went in during freshers and it hadn't even been processed yet. They have lots of people on hand though so you won't have to wait.

Anyone catch the Prince at central station today?

Missed him but saw it on the BBC News. Loved the emphasis that the Royal Train ran on bio-diesel. They shouldn't lie, we all know it's unicorn blood.

Haha, I caught the clip too. The whole time I was running Hugh Dennis' commentary of him from Mock the Week in my head. Not quite as fun as the Pope will be I'd imagine.
Hello everybody.

As some of you know I've applied for a BSc (Honours) in Mathematics. Reading the 'Welcome to Science' booklet I've noticed that it says '[...] Entry to MSci, like entry to BSc Honours, comes at the start of third year. [...]'

I would like to understand whether I, as a student for BSc (Honours) in Mathematics, will be given the opportunity to go for a MSci and if so when? If I am not given this opportunity, does it mean that I have to apply to Glasgow Uni as others (which did not graduate at Glasgow Uni) do for a MSci?

Thanks!
I'm leaving tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it! I fly at noon to London (Gatwick) and have to wait there for 4 hours. Then I catch a flight to Glasgow!!!!!!

So excited!!!!!!

Glasgow, here I come!

Yeah, basically.
Essentially all you're doing right now is applying to get into 1st and 2nd year of a Science degree and that's it.
You quite quite easily apply for a BSci in Maths and end up with an MSci in Chemistry if that's how you choose to go.
To do the MSci though you need to average a B or better throughout in 1st and 2nd year. It's not as hard as it sounds, but it does mean that you have to take all of your classes seriously, even if you have no intention of doing them in 2nd and/or 3rd year

With my pre registration I didn't choose any courses since I didnt get the catalogue in the post until after, so I will choose them at my advisor meeting?

And with the felixiblity, would it be possible for me to start a course in physics and end up with mechanical engineering?

You can choose them at the advisors meeting, it's preferred that you have them picked or at least have had a good think about it. I think they've tried to stop the catalogues this year and aim for online catalogues on Websurf.

Yeah you'll pick them at the advisor meeting (which you should be arranging around now really)

Probably not, as Mechanical Engineering isn't a science course, it depends on the number of credits that course is and whether or not their department will let you take it.
If you start your degree in Physics you're free to take any science course (with the exception of psychology which is too popular, so only people who've applied for it specifically can do it).
There are others you can take as well, I did Economics, and loads of people do modern languages, but you need special permission from each department. I just have a feeling that Mechanical Engineering is too big a course to take alongside physics and maths (if you take physics in first year you almost certainly need to take maths as well or you can't do it in second year even if you want to). I might be wrong however, I'm just saying this because i've known a few people to take it and everything they did in first year was engineering related

Can't wait now. This is my last day at home. Even though I only live about 35 miles away I still can't wait! Quick question for people though (one that no one so far has been able to answer).
When is Ministry of Sound playing and where? If it IS indeed on the Saturday and in the Hive are non-students (i.e. my Sister) allowed to come and see MoS?

If it's in freshers week (i.e. the 18th september) it's a categorical no.

Yeah I knew that much, I'll just need to do a bit more digging. Thanks though.

sorry if i'm being thick but -
my Saas letter says expected payment is Monday 13th, but also that you have to be registered first. My registration day is this Tuesday, so can I expect it this week or next or what?
I'm just not looking forward to Fresher's with only £40 :p:
