Aye you told me your hours in fact, more than I can/want to work, but good on you. You're also probably on a bit more than me! The loan's only £60 a month, enough to pay my travel at a stretch. I'll be aiming for ~£250/300 p/m from work.

I'm in the process of selling them. By that I mean that I haven't bothered my arse to ebay them, but by mentioning it in passing 2 nice law student types offered to buy some

Ahhh i don't mind my work, the people are fab and my uniform seems to be nicer than your 3/4 lengths
Yeah, I think I might put some of mine on ebay and make a few bob. I'm not gonna buy lots of books this year from the book shop anyway far too expensive!

My trackies are full lengths (even on my legs) and my shorts won't be past the knee, I'm telling ye  I don't mind work either, but it gets in the way of studying. I could cut down on other things, but nah...

I dunno how good ebay is (never sold anything), might try amazon first.... And yeah, while I like buying all my books, it is expensive.

What do people spend their loans on though if they stay at home? I never really got it. I've always had a part time job when I was at uni and have lived off that.

Travel, mainly. Although it's possible to claim some of it back, the maximum they can give still doesn't cover it. When the loans moved to the monthly rather than termly installments the vast majority of mine went towards buying my Zonecard. The rest can either be saved, spent on holidays, new clothes, whatever. Remember that those living at home get slightly less loan overall.
For the people who have lived in Glasgow for a fair bit, I am looking to move flats so was wondering if Maryhill (near the Tescos) is a safe area compared to areas like Kelvinbridge and Partick, especially if I were to walk home late?

I live very near to the new Tesco site but on the North Kelvinside rather than the Maryhill side. I don't get any problems but if I lived a street further up in the Maryhill direction I wouldn't venture out at night.

I see, thanks for the heads up, walking around I had a similar impression. Would you recommend Partick and the Kelvinbridge area as better places to look into then?

Definitely. North Kelvinside is great too but a lot of the nicest parts are pricey whereas the parts bordering on good and bad are cheaper.

They were there earlier today. Fingers crossed they're still there tomorrow.
Anyone else starting History honours?

I'm really happy with all my modules
They're doing it at strathy too for the heads up

Question: What do you need to enter History honours? I could've swore that you needed two history courses at level 2 (like 2Em and whatever the other term code is) and one additional one at level 1 (for example 'economic and social history'). But apparently, according to the website now, you need FOUR level 2 courses (so like level 2 economic & social and level 2 european history) and one level 1 subject. ... I'm superconfused.
Just pricing my course texts, as you do, and I nearly spat my coffee out. Look at the eye-watering price of this:

Law of Banking

So, start saving if you fancy Commercial Baking, law student people...

OMG! I thought £60 for a book was a bit much, never mind that amount! Have you thought about selling a Kidney to pay for it? :P

It's even more expensive on Amazon, but all hardback academic books are extremely expensive. Might be because of the limited print run.

You need to take four level two modules; either all in History or with another subject. Aslong as you have 80 credits from level two courses.
