totally, if there's anything i regret about uni, it's not staying in halls!
still 2 hours to get into uni? :s you're not that far away surely? only takes me roughly 40 mins on the bus depending on traffic

Ach, it's a bit of a "what if?" for me, probably would be hard up and I've so many ties at home that would've been daft to cut/put the strain on. At the same time, I feel a bit distant from the Uni life.

Nah, it was 2 hours of lectures, but the commute was about the same time round trip, an hour each way.

certainly staying at home doesn't match up to staying in glasgow, but i've come to terms with it.
it actually encourages me to study more i suppose, so it's not all bad
when i was in glasgow i'd go back to the flat and then do nothing and then go out
now i just go into uni, study then go out since i takes me about an hour and a half to get home roughly.
i almost enjoy the commute in the morning and on the way home as it gives me a chance just to sit back and relax for a bit.
i just hated it when i had to leave uni at 10.30 when i was studying so that i could get the last train home as I would much rather stay till 12/1ish.
i'm going to try and get a car after christmas though so i can go home at 5/6ish, have dinner, drive back in and study until the wee hours.
i don't really think i'm missing out much these days to be honest as i rarely missed an evening at the pub with my friends last year, we all had 9am lectures 5 days a week so nobody really stayed out after 11ish
One of the best things about staying at home was that the commute gave me time to actually wake up. It meant that I could actually pay attention in lectures rather than still being half asleep. I think commuting might be a love it or hate it thing though.

Studying just means you need to be a bit more organised, which is no bad thing really!
I really couldn't do a long commute into uni  The 10 minute or so bus journey I take if it's raining heavily is enough for me.
It takes me a good 30 mins to walk into uni anyway, and in the biting cold of winter that's more than enough to wake me up

Anyone know any night buses on weeknights that go to the city centre, like the bus station or anywhere near from byres road or near the uni?

N9G has stopped apparently, any others? Even if they are like a 10 or 15 minute walk from the uni to get on.

conway!
lol i remember  i was sitting along a bit near the middle. i'll be late today, think i'm really far away before it :o:

No-one was late
I was late for French today  in my defense, the building wasn't on the map! :woo:

i'm late for lectures all the time, nobody bats an eyelid
i've walked in at 9.40 for the last 15 minutes of a lecture with only 10 other people in it before (actually quite a number of times) because i've missed the train or it's running late or something, and no lecturer has ever mentioned it to me

i think they like the fact that i'm getting 15 minutes of education rather than none

Did anyone watch Reporting Scotland this fine evening? They were interviewing kids about whether graduates should pay back some of their fees (thanks, Anton) at that bench that runs the length of the outside of the maths building. I nearly ended up in shot, so decided it was time to move.

Rizzletastic

No, but I did see the story on the internet:

I love my comute to uni. It takes me all of two minutes to get the QMU from my flat xD

/ smug bast*rd

No, but on a serious note Celtic Anthony - Move out! I stayed at home for the first year and I thought oh where am i going to find the money etc but when theres a will, theres a way. RBS Student over draft is 1400 for second year students twin that with your SAAS loan and a part time job = you sorted  Staying in Glasgow actually isn't THAT expensive. My flat is fully furnished HUUGE room all bills for £380 per month. Its do-able man and I would highly recommend it.

To be fair, my commute is enjoyable if I'm not rushed, as it's sometimes the only time I have to read for myself, and not for my studies. So I enjoy that.

I've already maxed one overdraft, plus most of my mates stay at home, my job is out this way, my rugby team too (I'm past the stage of wanting to move). I've also got funding for a postgrad to think of. I would be reliant on my parents more than now, seeing as I have little savings and they hate me being in debt, and I'm already indebted to them an incredible amount beyond the 100 quid cash they lent me when I was unemployed, which is all they ask back. It's not doable for me now, maybe next year but I'd rather have a holiday and a few festivals, and it seems pointless. I just think it would've been a much fuller experience had I went to a Uni where I would've had to move out.
Hey guys this is a bit random but today I went to the QMU to the Poster sale thing that was there. I want to get a picture of Glasgow at night - you know one of those long ones that are landscape and look cool to put above my bed. Noboby knows where to get one do they?

so basically they want to bring back the graduate endowment that they got rid of just 2 years ago
tbh getting rid of that was the main reason i voted snp

I am trying to do a live Q&A before an audience with the Principal Anton Muscatelli, would people be interested or bored by it?

N44 or N44A drop you right outside union street (across from central)
they go to newton mearns (N44A) and eaglesham (N44)

you get on the bus right across from glasgow uni

N66 still runs, it's about a 10 minute walk I think :s As far as I can remember you get to Byres Rd from the uni, turn right and walk to the end and it's Great Western Rd and it goes along there. Definitely might have missed a few roads out there though :p:

Ok cheers, but are you sure, I am almost 100% certain it was cancelled about two weeks ago?

I know where great western road is, so I will take a look - thanks for your help
