I pretend to study maths when in reality i put everything off to the last minute. The dissertation is NOT going well
Is yours in mid-December? Mine isn't going badly, it's just taking an age to write After doing so many 1500-2000 word essays, getting into the habit of going into such great detail is harder than I thought it would be.

The deadline? Nah, I've to have the first draft done by the 7th or so, then the deadline is early february or so. We don't do essays in maths so going from roughly 0 word essays to 10000 is also difficult
"For info: The Registry is now saying it will 'aim to'publish the exam dates on the website on Wednesday of this week."
So no, not really
I know! I can't remember the last time I actually removed my scarf and coat in uni. And my lecturers never look cold! They're a different species...
my lecturer came in and mentioned how he is finding it difficult to write on blackboards now due to various injuries he has gained over the years.
he then proceeded to show the burns (due to electric shock), wrist fracture, and part of his hand he fractured in the last few years yet he still managed to write with a chalk for half the lecture. he's such a badass!
I wish they had desks with no computers in short loan. Gah. Half the books I need for this essay are only available for four hours so it's easier to use them in here rather than having to check them out and take them somewhere else but every desk has a computer. I don't even need a computer, but here I am, selfishly using one anyway. Fail.
I'd hate that because you could never know whether a book is really checked in and on the shelf or somebody else is using it. Plus it would allow people to keep books for more than four hours and I really don't think that's fair. Taking an elevator to another floor takes just five minutes.
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but Glasgow Marrow are looking for new counsellors to help them get Glasgow Uni students on the bone marrow register. This is a fantastic thing get into - saving lives, and good on a CV too! http://tiny.cc/gtrmw

At Strathclyde there are hardly any desks in the short loan bit. The section is alarmed, and you have to check out your books to stop the alarm going off. So then you can study on any floor with the book. If you bring it back late you're fined.
As far as I know it, no. You sign up for the register and when they find somebody who's a match, they call you in to donate. But the procedure is virtually painless and you get back into your normal routine in about 2 or 3 days at most. On the other hand it's a really small price to pay to save somebody's life.
I want to try to register (I dunno if I'll be able since I've had all kinds of health issues recently and I'm only in Britain during the term) and I definitely want to help out so I'm going to training session thing.

That's why I prefer to use them in Short Loan - I'd only use them for maybe an hour max in there whereas if I took six or seven books upstairs I'd probably not return them until I was finished with all of them, which would probably be more than four hours.
The other day I was in and a book I wanted wasn't there at 1 but was there at 3.

But you can just take two books, go to the cafe or to one of the other floors and come back downstairs for more when you've finished with them, it's not like the library's that massive. I've spent three days in agony hunting down for Critical Perspectives on Harry Potter because despite the fact that the website said it was on the shelf, every time I looked for it, it wasn't there. In the end I turned to the books from the main section for both my essays and found some really interesting things tucked away in corners were most people couldn't be bothered to look.

Well I'm sorry that you think I'm doing the wrong thing but it's much better than me taking the book out/home for more than the four/24 hour limit.
Sorry you couldn't find the book you were looking for. I don't really see how you could have been in agony looking for it!
