Thank you for this that's actually really helpful to hear even if it is just speculation. My score for Brighton is 18, and last years cutoff was 17.8, the highest ever. So that definitely makes the wait a little less anxious.

This isn't super applicable since it's based off stats from UCL, but I found this kind of interesting and might well go for BSMS as well.

The average applicant scores from this year appear to be a good bit lower than last year.

Higher than those who took it in 2019 for sure, but still a good bit below last year's.
Average applicant score this year is 4.5, 4.4, 3.0A, whereas 2021 was 4.8, 4.8, 3.1A.

Judging from that, if I were to wager on this year's BSMS cutoff I'd say it may well be lower than the previous year's. Following the trend along the years for UCL shows that if BSMS's stats are in any way similar, we'll likely end up about halfway between 2020 and 2019 for the cutoff. All speculation, but might bring some hope to those worried over their scores due to last year - thought I'd share, why not!

Hope you're all doing well, best of luck to everyone

I really hope this is the case, my score is 16.2 and I am a contextual applicant. Last years cut off for contextuals was 16.4 so I am a bit nervous.
Has anyone received any invites from BSMS?

I sent it about a week ago. I’ll also let you know what happens thanks!

Hey I received a message back when I sent it via the portal so you should probably try that
In the newsletter sent out half an hour ago, they stated the interviews will be online and that the invites won't be sent out for a while yet.

I quote:

"While the UK is in a marginally better place in terms of the Covid-19 pandemic, we've once again taken the decision to hold interviews online for this year. Invites for students who've got an interview will be going out towards the end of this year."

Their full admissions process can be found in the newsletter, I'd recommend checking it out since it gives a good idea of the time frame we're all looking at.
Best of luck to everyone!

Does anyone know how many people get interviews who have applied vs how many offers they make?

There's a total of 193 places expected for UK applicants in the 2022 entry year, but there'll probably be more offers given out than that.

For 2021 entry, there were 1975 applicants total (home and international), 539 interviewed and 365 given an offer. Hope that helps, not sure if you can get any more information about this year's entry but if you can let me know!

To be honest, I thought it was something you're automatically signed up for when applying - may have been wrong. It's just something they send out via email from time to time. You might be able to find a sign up link on their site, by making an account or something - not certain though.

I'm not all too familiar with the student room's interface for images - control + v won't paste it so I'm not all too sure how to do that. I'll sum up the information that actually applies over text, though. Will add links but they have to be copy and pasted into your search bar, not sure if

First there's a lecture taking place about Dry January on its 10th anniversary, exploring the impact of alcohol intake and people's feelings of control over their drinking.

The second part is around three students who've been asked to talk about their experiences being interviewed for medical school. The link to these interviews is below.

They then state that their latest Student Spotlight segment includes interview tips and other elements of the admission process.

After that they just say they're keeping interviews online and that the invites will go out towards the end of the year.

That's all that's on there. If you need the information, I'd really recommend you try and sign up yourself though, who knows what info they'll put on there in future. Could be useful.

5.2, 3.3, and 4.5A. Gives me 18 so I'm really hopeful. As long as the cutoff doesnt go even higher than last year.

Amazing essay score. Just thought a bit of respect was due to you for that ! I'd interview you just based on that. Sadly it is not up to me... Good Luck. X

I'd say a pretty decent chance. I mean we really don't know, but cutoffs tend to be 16-16.5 region. Last year was crazy with the 17.8, but similarly 2020 was crazy with 14.something I can't remember. Your score gives 17.3, which if we're right and cutoffs go down (the average score is lower this year than last year), I think there's definitely a chance for you both.

I swear this was changed recently?

yeah I just saw that too wtf? especially given how rare a 6 is to obtain, you can still be rejected because your s2 was bellow a 6 even thou your total score is above the cut-off? I scored a 6.9 on s2 myself but this is incredibly unfair on everyone else
