You guys do you think I’ll get removed from the Medicine reserve list if I apply to a non- Med course in ucas extra?? Keele did say that a non medicine offer won’t effect the reserve list but idk???

I’d check with Keele if you’re worried

Nope I’m currently on the waitlist

Good Luck. Hope your exams went well.
Not sure if anyone from the waiting list has heard anything.

I sent Keele admissions an email last week regarding reserve list applicants, when we will hear back, positions on the list and if achieved applicants hear back sooner. This was their response:

Offers to applicants on the reserve list are likely to be later in the summer, as we have to wait for all those who have offers to study medicine to make a decision with regards to their firm and insurance place. Please note that you will be contacted if we are able to offer you a place. Please don't contact our medicine admissions team during this period to ask about the status of your application. If you are on the reserve list and have not heard from them by A-Level results day (currently scheduled as Tue 18 Aug 2022), please contact us then if you have met the standard offer conditions.

(I'm guessing other applicants got similar responses as well)

Thanks for sharing. This results day business is alarming to be honest. I wish there was a more streamlined process for clearing. Wishing everyone lots of luck x

No problem!

I'll feed that back to the school and let them know. We did have an especially busy applicant cycle this year but, obviously, will still want to do our best to keep everyone informed!

Hi Amy Louise, I’ve tried contacting Keele by email and phone but I’m not getting a response to my question. I was wondering, would applying to a non medicine course in ucas extra remove me from the medicine reserve list?? Thank you !

Hi @ash767,

Sorry to hear you've not had a response to your queries. I'm a student rather than an admissions specialist so I'll have to drop the admissions team a message to ask them, and will come back to you as soon as I've had a response.

Hi @ash767,

My colleague in admissions has advised that accepting a place on a non-medicine course elsewhere would not remove you from our reserve list.

Hope that helps!

Just wanted some advice, I am on the waiting list for 3 med schools and wanted to know what would happen if 2 or more called me on results day ? Say if I get a called from another choice for an offer, will keele remove me from the waitlist even though it’s my first choice?

They would not know. The medical schools making offers to their waiting list people will give you at least a day to accept, so if you get multiple offers on results day you can decide at the end of the day - which would be a nice problem to have!

You know Ecolier would tell you that if you want to be a doctor, don't choose a non medicine option as grad medicine takes longer, costs more and is significantly more competitive?

If you do another degree, make sure that it leads to an alternative career which appeals to you as most grads who try will not get a GEM place, so if you can't afford to self fund the first 4 years of A100, you will probably need to give up on medicine if you do another degree.

IDK if this means anything but Keele’s response to one of my enquiries was that they operate a small waiting list for medicine for 2022 entry so because they said it’s small means those on it still may be in for a chance idk

Yes
The threshold to be given an offer this year was the score of 44 and those with a score of 43 had been rejected so assuming that those who have half point up 43 would be on the waiting list means that very few people would be on the waiting list and hence the chances of gaining an offer from the waiting list would be much greater than previous years

But they have potentially over-offered slightly considering none of the reserve list applicants are hearing back until the week of results day. I feel there is still a chance to recieve an offer as some offer holders will not achieve the grades or have Keele as their second choice.

Yup

Not really sure where to put this. However, does anyone know why the Keele A100 2022 entry thread is closed?

Probably because we're moving on to 2023 entry, and people applying this year for 2023 entry were posting in it and taking it off-topic?

None of that actually happened, for the last month it was discussions regarding the reserve list. Plus, I dont believe any of the other 2022 entry threads have been closed(especially when results day hasn't passed yet)? There are quite a few waitlist applicants still waiting to hear back and it would be useful if this thread was still open.

Hi
I hope everyone is managing this stressful time.

Has anyone on the waiting list heard anything? Do you know if Keele will have our results on Thursday even though we are 'unsuccessful' on UCAS and we are just on their waiting list?

Hi @uniaspirant,

We'll have a clearer picture regarding the waitlist after A-Level results are released and firm offers have been accepted/rejected. I don't know how long that process is likely to take but I've asked the admissions team if they can provide an idea of timescale so will let you know as and when I hear back from them. I've also asked whether they will have access to the results of waitlist applicants.

you are a star, thank you so very much. If it is not on our UCAS page as an offer, I wasn't sure how this would work.

Thanks once again for responding. Really appreciate it
