This is England and football, if you are unaware, is more powerful than education and God.

A lot of the streets around here look like the Shankill and I had to deal with two incidents of
pupils being bullied - one for her nationality (she chose today to tell her classmates that she is
half Argentinian.) and the other for not liking football!

The media which would normally excoriate absenteeism are treating it as a patriotic duty.

Possibly the schools which opened late or used widescreen TVs to lure children in to assembly
thought they were choosing the lesser evil. I had to spend the afternoon sorting out the absence
notes from the morning. I had a note from one parent which said her child was at home watching the
football. Naturally when she was told that parents have been locked up for this sort of behaviour
she became positively huffy

So in that case she wants half the Falklands Islands ?

It is an event of great national importance and schools should respect it. Instead they seem to
celebrate every single Hindu and Buddhist celebration under the sun but don't give a damn to
anything British.

This happens to be untrue. The school at which I work does not do that - possibly they should but
the fact of the matter is that they do not. Sun readers just think they do.

Erm - disagree.

There are countless other sporting events going on that could be supported. Schools should be
setting an example and teaching youngsters to rise above the small minded jingoistic attitude
that goes with international football. Newspapes bearing headlines of "kill the argies" are a
national disgrace!

Then it really must be an exception to the rule but then how long will this exception last ? Back
when I was at school I had a "British" education rather than a multicultural one. Alright, I might
have learnt about Egyptians, ancient Greeks, Aztecs etc in history and stuff about Japan and South
America in Geography but the education I recieved didn't have all that multicultural mish mash
indoctrination that most kids of today have to put up with having to study African art, black
studies, Urdu poetry and all manner of religions from across the world. At the same time I didn't
have homosexuality propaganda thrust upon me and along with the rest of my class was informed that
homosexuality is an abnormal and disgusting act.

The Labour government is trying to slowly but surely eradicate anything pro British from the school
curriculum. History is getting biased and soon it looks like kids will be taught that everything
began on the 1st of May 1997. A guilt complex is being fostered concerning the third world blaming
the situation on what Britain did during the days of them empire. British culture and identity are
being kyboshed an in their place they are trying to force multiculturism onto kids. Anything
involving Northern Ireland is becoming biased towards the republican cause. Anything anti EU is
`verboten' with kids misled into the almost nonexistant benefits of the single currency and told
that anti EU opposition is old fashioned, outdated and fascist. Traditional virtues and values are
thrown out of the window. Worse of all power is being taken from parents, teachers and governers and
transfered to Whitehall.

Hurrah! Hurrah! Well said, sir. I'm on your side and I'll bet there are many people who are also
like-minded but too afraid to say so for fear of being bullied into silence by the so-called liberal
multiculturists who are anti our British/English society.

Hi

At our school the Students' Counsil brought up the subject about watching the Wold Champ. football
matches, the students are aged from 6-14. They had to do all the formal things like when you want to
pass (right word?)a law in the Parliament. We found this was a good lesson in Democracy and they did
it well, therefor they got it through, and now we have a rule/law that says, that whenever Denmark
plays a football match in a World Cup during school time, all the students may watch the games. Our
headmaster (a lady!) had on beforehand figured out, that because of the timedifference, this would
only happen every 12. year!!

And we have no problems with children getting bullied, except that our vice-headmaster Tuesday sent
a pupil wearing a French football T-shirt to the headmaster's office to get punished :-)

Now we are looking forward to the match Saturday (no school day) against England. No doubt we
will winn:-)

Kind regards Birgitte, a Danish teacher.

Hi

Actually I don't know much about football, and I am not very interested in the World Champ.... or
what ever it is called, but one thing I know and can see, is that here in Denmark we don't look up
on it as you (might) do in England. To us it is a football game, and nothing else. Like when you
play with your friends, of course you want to win, but you don't hate or dislike the other team. I
have never seen anything like "kill the argies" in the Danish medias.

For some reason many English put something more in a national footbal match, maybe because England
through so many ages have fought against many foreigh countries. And you have been brought up to
hate/dislike/look down upon the people England have ruled over, or fought against.

Kind regards Birgitte, a Danish teacher

What I had in mind was the international kiteboarding copmpetition, the BMX championship,

All I am trying to do is stick up for Britain. I want a British society and not a multicultural one.
Is that really too much to ask for ? I don't go round involving myself in neo Nazi and far right
hate groups or anything like that but I want to see children in Britain being given a proper British
education using traditional teaching methods which will instill dicipline and moral values as
opposed to this mindbending trendy teaching of today.

What is a 'proper British Education'?? As far as I can make out methods etc have been changing
constantly for hundreds of years - or perhaps you want to go back to the time when just boys got
educated and then only until they were 11, oh and perhaps married female teachers had better
quit too!!
