Hi,

I would like to study Economics, Finance and Spanish as part of my undergraduate education. My A level subjects are Maths, Economics and Spanish.

I have looked at the courses offered by Leeds university and would like some answers on a few queries please.

If I take up the Economics and Finance degree:
- Is there an option to make it a joint degree to study Spanish alongside? If so, what would the split between the Economic/Finance and Spanish be?
- If I cannot add Spanish to my degree, then are there any extra programmes, clubs or society's offered that I could use to continue to learn Spanish alongside my course?

If I take up the Modern Languages and Economics course:
- Is there any difference between the Spanish A and B programmes?
- What would the split be between Economics and Spanish? Will it be equally split for both or maybe even more on Languages? I am looking for a combination where the focus is more on Economics and lesser on Spanish.
- The entry requirements for this course state AAA but also state that if Spanish is taken as an A level subject then the minimum grade should be B. Does that mean that as I have taken Spanish for A levels the minimum required grade is AAB?
- Year 3 is spent abroad. Would this year abroad continue the education in Economics at a university in that country? If so, would the teaching be done solely in the native language?

Lastly, please could you let me know if offers are sometimes made before the application deadline or is it always after the deadline?

Thanks.

I would strongly advise that you contact the university to ask these questions. I would try emailing these email addresses in the first instance: [email protected] and [email protected] - these are the ones given as contact info on the webpages for the courses you are considering.

I hope you get the answers you seek!
