I would suggest applying for a clinical fellow / locum post prior to going for a substanstive consultant post in the NHS - in order to familiarise yourself with how it works here.

It will be very different to the UAE I'm sure and you want to leave a good impression with the team!

So do you advise me that before i apply for a specalist job, i apply to either clinical attachement or a locum job for let's say a period of 6 months and then i apply to the specialist job?

If you've never lived/worked in the UK, I would agree with this. Going straight in as a consultant could be a big culture shock, not just clinically, but also in terms of how the organisation runs, where you fit in etc. It would probably also make actually getting a long term consultant job easier.

Yes, as Helenia said.
