i'm taking a foundation maths gcse in may/june next year, but its so much harder getting a pass in foundation than it is in higher.
Is there anyway i can resit my gcse before i get the result and do a different tier instead?

Nope. Just work hard and prove that you're capable of higher and negotiate this with your teacher and see if they'll allow you to do higher
