The social sciences degree at UCL is something I really want to do because other unis don’t have the same modules etc that I’d like. The entry requirements are AAA which I can get but they need a 6 in maths GCSE whereas I only got a 5 (it was the 2020 GCSES that didn’t even get sat)
Will it be worth it to apply or should I just forget about it?

If you did apply you would be at a disadvantage to other candidates and I know most unis are not lenient when it comes to GCSE results. It may be worth emailing UCL undergrad admissions team and asking them.

Hey, this is a bit nosy of me, but did you end up applying to UCL in the end? How did that go?

No problem Lol, I didn’t apply there! But I did to KCL for social sciences and I go there now which I think is a better suit for me anyway so I guess it all worked out!

Oh that's awesome, congratulations! I'm currently in a similar position to the one you were in, so it puts me at ease to know that it's not the end of the world. Thanks for responding

It’s definitely not the end of the world even if it seems like it. Sixth form was probably the worst time of my life lol the stress you get is so bad and it just seems so small by the time you finish! I’d say apply to what you’re thinking of because you never know, only if you feel good with the other 4 unis you’ve applied to!

Hi!! I just wanted to ask if you ended up applying there and how it went? I’m in the same predicament you were in so I would love to have some insight on what options I have

Hey! I didn’t end up applying there sadly, but I do social sciences at KCL now! I remember asking the social sciences department at UCL if it was worth it to apply there and they said yes and that each application is viewed differently. It wasn’t enough to convince me but I’m happy with how everything turned out.
there will always be options - just make sure your predicted grades are high and personal statement is the best

Congrats!!!! I also want to do social sciences at KCL. May I ask what the degree is like and what I can do to make my personal statement the best it needs to be in order to be considered. Fortunately my predicted grades a A* A* A*, however my gcse grades are only 98766554.I wonder if this will hinder my application in any way?
