Physics degree 1st year

Hi,
I was wondering roughly how many hours a 1st year Physics student should do of independent study (outside lectures/seminars/labs) per week? Thanks

Your total workload, including timetabled lectures, labs, tutorials plus problem sheets (super important at university) and any “extra” work you do (tidying up notes, reading around the subject etc) should add up to the same number of hours you would dedicate to a full time job, so 40 hours +. There is no “right” answer however, some people are more effective at time management and their use of study time than others, you need to find a healthy amount for you enough to succeed, not so much you kill your social life.
