talk to your teachers about what books you are studying and the main themes, do some practise exams and basically work with them to produce one A* paragraph that is versatile enough you could incorporate it into basically any question that arises. Then simply learn it. This might sound strange but I had just one paragraph that I learnt, and I wrote it down quickly so I had more time for the rest of my essay and was confident that I had given myself a decent chunk of marks that always boosted my grade up overall.

Basically I had one paragraph I learnt that compared the great Gatsby and grapes of wrath texts, and covered deep analysis on power and gender, which I almost always fitted in my essays!! it worked well for me.

do lots of practice essays (PETAL structured paragraphs are good enough for gcse) and ensure your understanding of the texts is strong- learn how themes and characters link together.
