Hey guys, I’m in a real predicament. Essentially my household income is around 45k. This means my maintenance loan is only around 8.5k (which for London is very low). There is no way my parents can afford to give me money since I have 3 other siblings on top of the bills they have to pay.

So I’m wondering if it’s possible for SFE to give you increased funding due to me struggling to pay for basics after rent

(I am looking for a PT job btw)

Bursary from the Uni uses info from SFE and apparently my parents earn “too much” even tho I don’t get a penny of that lol

Unfortunately SFE would not give you any extra. I would speak to the uni to see if there is any other avenues of support that you can point you in the direction of.

Smart pig gives loans for students, repayable on your next loan payment. It worked for me, I ve asked for 500 pd and I should pay back at the end of September

Unfortunately SFE won't increase the amount they give you in situations like this. A part time job and interest free overdraft with your student bank account are the only sensible way for you to get the extra income you need. (There are also private loan companies but look at the terms very carefully because the interest rates can be very high).
