I recently got a new card from the same bank as my old one, which had expired. I have just remembered today I have forgotten to update my details to the new account, and now student finance is telling me I can't change my details 5 days before a payment! I have some savings I can survive on in the immediate future, but what can I do in the meantime? Is it worth contacting them or do I have to wait for the payment to fail before updating?
If the card had just expired and was reissued and you haven't moved to an entirely new account, then your sort code and account number for receiving payments should not have changed, just your unrelated 16 digit card number.
