I pay for escorts, is that morally questionable?Watch
Many people have very negative opinions about paying sex workers to provide intimate sexual services.
While others view it neutrally or positively.
Considering sex work to be as a reasonable consensual arrangement between consenting adults.
One that provides valuable employment and a regular source of income to individuals who would otherwise be either jobless or financially struggling to maintain sufficient shifts/regular income from alternative paid work.
While I won't discuss any details, my job is investigating the trafficking of young women and children for sexual slavery. There is a growing number of people who are trafficked domestically and internationally for the purposes of sexual slavery - many of whom end up being forced into prostitution to make money for their captors. I don't think you can imagine the things some of these people go through and endure. It is truly, truly horrific.
As a lay person, it may not be obvious which 'sex workers' are acting under duress. Modern traffickers have some very abhorrent means of applying extreme duress to their victims, not only forcing them to undertake sexual acts with others against their will, but also forcing them to ensure the other person leaves satisfied and unsuspecting of the victim's situation.
With this in mind, I would implore you to reconsider your use of escorts. That is, unless you're happy to risk perpetuating sexual slavery.
For those saying prostitution is not unethical, users of 'sexual services' or not, I can assure you that your naivety is only outdone by your ignorance on the realities of prostitution.
