I regularly pay for escorts before the pandemic, does that make me an unethical person?

Of course not, as long as everything is consensual you're fine.

I don’t necessarily think so but prostitution undoubtedly can have some unsavoury aspects linked to exploitation of vulnerable young women

I personally don't see an issue with it. However, I do think other people might find it weird.

Variety of opinions about the morality of buying or selling sex to random strangers.

Many people have very negative opinions about paying sex workers to provide intimate sexual services.
While others view it neutrally or positively.
Considering sex work to be as a reasonable consensual arrangement between consenting adults.
One that provides valuable employment and a regular source of income to individuals who would otherwise be either jobless or financially struggling to maintain sufficient shifts/regular income from alternative paid work.

I pay for it too, this is normal nowadays, from my point of view. The discussion over whether there is anything wrong with buying sex and whether it should be made criminal is raging. One topic that is rarely answered in the midst of the argument is why males pay women to sleep with them. I am very glad to have the possibility of calling female escorts, imagine how many people it saved of loneliness and maybe even depression because of this? If we dig deeper, we can find a lot of positive things in paying for sex.

Not unethical (unless you're religious) but is unhygienic.

It very much depends on the context. Not all 'sex workers' are alike.

While I won't discuss any details, my job is investigating the trafficking of young women and children for sexual slavery. There is a growing number of people who are trafficked domestically and internationally for the purposes of sexual slavery - many of whom end up being forced into prostitution to make money for their captors. I don't think you can imagine the things some of these people go through and endure. It is truly, truly horrific.

As a lay person, it may not be obvious which 'sex workers' are acting under duress. Modern traffickers have some very abhorrent means of applying extreme duress to their victims, not only forcing them to undertake sexual acts with others against their will, but also forcing them to ensure the other person leaves satisfied and unsuspecting of the victim's situation.

With this in mind, I would implore you to reconsider your use of escorts. That is, unless you're happy to risk perpetuating sexual slavery.

For those saying prostitution is not unethical, users of 'sexual services' or not, I can assure you that your naivety is only outdone by your ignorance on the realities of prostitution.

Sex for pay is the future, as the marriage rates plummet, and divorces increasingly being filed by women, more men are avoiding marriage altogether. In addition to that, pursuit for sex in the conventional manner is not only expensive but also dangerous for the younger man because of false assault allegations. Therefore, men will opt for paid sex in the future

Depends on your own morals, could be yes could be no thats up to your own conscience to decide. A fair whack of others would consider it morally dubious though.
