Affordable private pension

I want to start preparing for the future, I have a civil service pension but want another pension. I don’t have a lot of disposable income so would not be able to contribute aloe every month

If it is a defined benefit scheme you will not find a better alternative.
As Reue suggests, the civil service pension scheme is usually considered one of the best, you won't be able to buy anything better. Speak to an independent financial advisor, but an ISA of the right type might be a better plan.

Probably best clarifying if it's an additional pension or replacement to opting out of the civil service one (Alpha?)

Assuming the former. Why not a lifetime ISA? Unless you're paying higher rate its tax wise as good and has more flexibility if you're not already a homeowner.

If you're keen on a SIPP then Vanguard gets my vote.

Many thanks for your help

Would a SIPP be worth it? If I could only afford 50 pounds a month in?

You've yet to clarify if it's in addition to your building the civil service pension, or to replace it.

Let alone what your aim is.
